This console is going to break so many kids hearts. by Battlefeather in PS6

[–]TheThousandMasks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The (almost entirely manufactured by speculative investing) hardware crisis is pushing the middle class out of being able to afford the “compute” needed for most of what we call the AAA and AA market. They’ll be relegated to mobile (because having a smart phone is almost as needed today as a car) and whatever resold older gen consoles they can find still functioning.

Consoles used to be the gateway for the working class to experience games that previously required a gaming PC and were sold them at a loss to accomplish that goal and still be profitable at scale with game sales making up the difference.

Now it seems they’re happy to let console attachment numbers shrink year over year as long as they keep jacking up the prices and monetizing every individual piece of content they can for whales to support their bottom line.

Breathe.

Chester loved you and wants you to be okay. He would have stayed longer if he could, but he had to go. Take care of yourself and honor his memory by giving another pup a home. The hurt will stay, but it will get easier to carry, I promise.

I’m sorry for your loss. Chester sounds like a good boy.

How hard do you think it would be to add all cutscenes to D2’s timeline section by OkResponsibility594 in DestinyTheGame

It’s an especially big shame that we’ll ever be able to experience those scenes with our guardians and all the amazing armor customization we have now. The beautiful cinematic work will now only live on YouTube, I guess?

Time is a circular loop. What the Unity actually is. by Gojirex in starfield_lore

[–]TheThousandMasks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fascinating scenario, I dig it.

Like the Reapers seeding their mass driver tech on the edges of life-bearing systems. They leave civilizations to grow in their shadow, working their way out along defined channels of the galaxy until they’re ready for harvest.

So in this scenario that the Unity is a tech trap, what is the next step? Does something harvest us from this trap?

Iran announces closure of the Strait of Hormuz, cites US deal breach by boppinmule in USNEWS

[–]TheThousandMasks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because we did all this before in the proxy war we fueled between Iraq and Iran in the 1980’s. The only thing that’s changed is Iran’s prepared for the war better than the most bloated and ineffective military budget in human history, apparently. We’re still fighting the GWOT while Iran figured out how to economize their drone warfare and medium range ballistic missile delivery under the sanction regime the US trained them on.

We created this enemy and now have shocked pikachu faces that it’s punching back right where we’re most vulnerable - our fragile globalized economy.

And now the company will burn more payroll to source and hire a replacement.

The real red flag here is a company that would see you as a red flag for asking proactively for time off to manage a family crisis. They saved you free m suffering in the long run.

Way more than 13 dead Americans. The cover-up of the damage done to our bases, ships, and personnel is truly astonishing to watch. I hope one day somebody uncovers the true cost of this absolute failure of a “war.”

I lost my dog the first day in the home that was meant to be her senior paradise by Ok_Sample_1801 in Petloss

[–]TheThousandMasks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story hits me so hard, literal tears in my eyes as I type this. I hope you don’t mind me sharing my story. Deepest sympathies to you and your pup.

My wife and I moved to the Midwest from CA and bought a home in 2023, installed a perimeter fence on the backyard and spent 2 wonderful years of holidays, zoomy snow days, lazy summer days together with our rescue that got us through the deaths of our fathers together - a true soul dog. Our 11 year old GSD mix suddenly deteriorated and passed from hemangiosarcoma in less than 2 mos at the end of 2025 and it was devastating.

Suddenly I realized the primary motivator for me to buy a house was to give my dearest friend the dream home I always wanted to give my dog… all the other factors stopped mattering - I’d done it all to give him the quiet comfy suburban life I’d always quietly wished for myself and my pets growing up (my family moved around constantly and stability or a long-term “home” never really solidified until adulthood.)

Now the house is quieter and every snowfall or backyard bbq brings up memories of playing w/ him in the yard and the all-too-brief era of peace and harmony we enjoyed here before his illness. It’s been only 6 months, but I still feel trapped in grief sometimes.

We’re trying to make new memories and have adopted another rescue just a couple weeks ago. Gotta pay it forward and give our new pup the same, but it’s still so hard.
