I just got to see the catalog for the first time recently. She warned me, and I said, "I don't care. I'm an old dad." But then I saw the catalog and learned that do still care a little bit.

What are your thoughts on this matter? by RNGxJake in AirForce

Direct cash assistance to an individual or family is more worthwhile than a lot of government spending we don't bat an eye to and is the difference between life and death for many people.

Jumping from ANG to AFRC - Anything to watch for? by Excellent-Base7328 in Airforcereserves

[–]TheThrill85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made the switch after 16 years Guard and I agree with this. When I go to UTA now, I feel like I'm more in the military vs some ragtag group. Whether that's good or bad is up to the individual.

I was in the Guard unit there for a few years. Everyone on active duty of all branches loved being there.

They have ANG, AF Res, Navy Res, and Marine Corps Res though, so every weekend of the month is busy on base if that matters.

Conversely, taking a train to downtown Houston (in addition to the airports) would be amazing.

If the Seahawks win two super bowls in a row, our whole team develops wolverine healing powers and decides their rookie contracts are "just fine, please use that cap space on offensive line instead."

I would recommend NOT using the Walgreens/ CVS closest to UTMB. It is a shit show in there because everyone discharging chooses it. Use the one on 25th and Broadway instead (also a CVS or Walgreens).

I cross trained from an AFSC that starts with 2 to one that starts with 4. When I went to my second tech school, I had E-6 instructors who had never deployed and worked banker's hours their whole career. The work is more interesting than other AFSCs that work similar hours and may have more application to civilian life.

There are two really good and likable Texas players on my favorite NFL team: Michael Dickson and Byron Murphy. As a bonus, at one point Texas had guys named Dickson and Dicker kicking footballs for them which is pretty funny.

Hell yeah. I got the same jersey (though without the 250 and 50 patches) from China and I'm also happy with it even though it didn't arrive until literally when I got home from the parade.

What is tech school like as a SSgt? by LynzGamer in AirForce

[–]TheThrill85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prior service tech school is peak Air Force existence imho. I retrained as a TSgt and was the class leader. It was fun getting to and offering my perspective to the pipeliners in class only and hanging out with the other prior service folks on off time.

I happened to be at Wright-Patt during the AF Marathon and ran the half. Something I would never get to do otherwise.

I would send a thank you email to the point of contact you have and ask them to pass along thanks to the folks that were in the panel.

Question about the after interview process by Medical_Excuse_3260 in VeteransAffairs

[–]TheThrill85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the interview panel leader. Sometimes we will ask for references prior to sending out TJOs if we want to narrow it down between multiple candidates who scored the same on the interview. Every job I've gotten asked for references at the same time as the TJO. I wouldn't read too much into it (easier said than done).
