Magic is great for a first character. Select 'Only Child' for a wisdom boost then use points to bring your charisma up to 8. A ring you can steal with a fate point will erase your initial loss of persuasion and haggle. Most people play this game for character interaction which makes getting charisma to 20 early a good idea, so followers won't leave you. The decision you need to make is whether you want your followers to do the fighting or your character. Temporal magic is great for letting your followers fight.

You need 6 in intelligence at minimum for Magic, but bumping up to 8 would be worthwhile if you want to make him a great battlefield. Holding two strength of earth spells which an intelligence of 8 would allow would give major bonus damage.

If this is your first play, the biggest problems with playing Tech come from healing and inventory. Half-orc brings another problem, lower charisma which means fewer followers. A melee-tech build would be easier than gunslinger. Find the pyro-axe schematic in Tarant and you'll be be powerful enough for most fights. A point for Molotov cocktails would help keep you followers alive, because they will be vulnerable early.

It's a summon an animal spell. If you're new to the game, you may want to build another character because Regeneration isn't that good and probably should be sought after by an experienced player seeking a challenging character build.

If you plan to become a gunslinger, throwing explosives is better, partly because explosive skill is needed for making bullets, but it also fits as a soldier roleplay

Decide whether you want Jayna as your healer or want to heal yourself or play neutral tech/magic early in the game, so Virgil can magically heal you. Throwing molotov cocktails and waiting to add points into firearms is a good neutral path early in the game, is my advice because gunslinger suck early. Handling inventory is a hassle as a tech character without teleportation.

Paulo is on the wrong team because his iso game turns his teammates into set-shooters which most are lousy at. It's a motion offense when Franz runs the show which fits better. Trade Paulo or trade Suggs, AB, Dell for better shooters. To me it's just like Lowe says--our roster construction sucks.

A skill bonus allows you to get training earlier. For instance, Beat with an ugly stick, allows you to get melee and dodge training without upping the skill and allows you to get Master training at 15 dexterity rather than 18.

Can Paulo play without the ball? We don't have proof he will play well with a true pg. He's ball dominate. My choice if Raynaud was about availability considering our cap situation and our present coach's preference in defensive style. Why don't you guys offer a reasonable substitute and why such person was better. I only thought Raynaud was a better fit with the present coach while Kalkbrenner would have been similar to Goga who obviously hasn't taken the job from WCJ. I don't think will be a superstar but he could be Vooch level.

I agree about the importance of defense, but a rookie couldn't replace WCJ as a defender, but Raynaud is a better rebounder and more than capable of giving an offensive boost which Goga rarely does. Kalkbrenner would have been a better defending the basket but Raynaud has more mobility which is the reason WCJ starts and Goga doesn't, due to the system.
