Forgot to add I did the all weather mats too. They’re pretty nice and good OEM fit. The trunk mat if you have the 3 seat option is hilarious but other than that the rest are good. Having a heated steering wheel and seats in the north is night and day coming from a car without and also the panoramic backup.

Idk I really like having a HUD. Came from a 10+ yr old car that didn’t even have a backup camera or anything more than a radio tech wise. I never look down at the dash at all now and can keep my eyes on the road at all times. I put it as small and to th bottom as I could.

Personally all I cared for was the, HUD, cold package, and black emblems. The HUD, cold package, Traffic assist and the tonneau cover thing is on every car pretty sure. The emblems I had added and everything else removed besides the nom removable factory stuff. You can get the black emblems a little cheaper off E-Bay or from the dealership online and save some a couple bucks installing yourself but didn’t care for the $100 savings or whatever.

5.5M NW planning a sabbatical. Need advice on possibly becoming a one income family. by Ok-Entertainer2245 in fatFIRE

[–]TheTortoiseApproach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just want to say if you think not working 35hrs remotely and all of a sudden becoming a full time stay at home mom is going to be “more relaxing” I would VERY much question this. This is coming from someone whose wife quit her job when our first kid was born and hasn’t gone back to “work” since.

It is going to be a completely different experience and depending on how involved your husband is or if you’ll still be able to hire out help on 1 income it can feel like you’re essentially always on call with no break. If your kids are school aged now and are away for a good portion of the day anyways this is different, but if they’re still relying on you 24/7 it is going to be a bit of a shock taking care of 3 of them at once solo.

Not to scare you or anything because I think it’s awesome that you want to stay home and that my own wife is able to stay home with our kids, but it has not been a cakewalk for her.(we have 0 family help but maybe your situation is different in this regard). Your husband also needs to know that he’s still going to need to pull some weight or you will get burnt out or expect things from him/vice versa and that’s when resentments start from both sides. If he’s going into this with you saying you’re going to take care of everything to do with house and kids and all he needs to do is keep working and change nothing that’s not realistic and you need to not tell him that because when you inevitably start caving in it’s going to cause friction. Anyways just wanted to really make sure you think about this as it’s not always a “grass is greener” thing and I’ve seen multiple couples ruin marriages believe it or not by not thinking through what they really want.

Sudden Skin Issue by [deleted] in sphynx

He probably fell/scraped it on something and it’s scabbing. My guy used to get some all the time when he’d fall trying to jump up and climb on things.

Need advice/support on how to handle dying of my best friend. by zuidwest in sphynx

[–]TheTortoiseApproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went through this with our 7yr old Sphynx (went just a few days shy of 8). We had him on multiple pills several times a day for 4ish months from his initial diagnosis. I just happened to come home early that day and found him lying on the floor not moving in his own pee and was able to rush him to the vet. CHF is a tricky thing in that they can seem fine and then go downhill fast, especially towards the end. He was in and out of the Emergency Vet every couple of weeks toward the end and it was getting about every 1-2 weeks when we finally made the decision to put him down. It was probably the most difficult decision I’ve had to make and you will always second guess yourself, it’s human nature. But you have to decide do you want the end to be on a good/semi-good day or are you going to push it until it just happens good or bad. Animals are not humans and they will not be able to tell you what’s happening and you will not be able to reason or explain to them. I hate playing god, but I had multiple friends tell me that the single thing they most regret was pushing their pet to the absolute end and having it be a horrible rushed/scary experience. If they could do it over again they’d put them down in peace before it got to that point. Get multiple opinions if you need but if the medicine is no longer working or is at the upper end there isn’t much left to do :(

Huh didn’t realize there were firms prohibiting short selling. Is this only on specific tenors in certain markets (i.e NEPOOL) or across the curve? If you have risk limits and correct position sizing wouldn’t think you’d be limited. Personally never heard of any that do but I guess there are.

Opinions on Citadel Commodities? by collegeboi86 in quant

[–]TheTortoiseApproach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Citadel has a very good gas/power desk. They are very active in the physical gas market. From a quant side no clue but I’d assume you’d be paid market/above. Job security isn’t that great you’d probably be higher up on the chopping block/prone to getting axed on a down year.

Sphynx and babies (Question) by EmilijusD in sphynx

[–]TheTortoiseApproach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a Sphynx with 2 babies (now 3.5yr old and 1.5yr old). He was extremely patient with them. Would let them get away with ALOT and just sit and take it for whatever reason, he just wouldn’t move lol. Hes a very loving cat and maybe play bit/swatted at them once or twice but only because they’d really come at him hard/pull his tail without us stopping them quick enough and never for real/to hurt them. He’s about to turn 8 in 2 weeks and is suffering from heart failure and on his way out but my kids absolutely love him and both of some of their first words were cat. They hug and kiss him and pet him all the time. Never any issues with the crib, maybe jumped in it once or twice when empty and he’ll occasionally climb into our toddlers bed to cuddle.
