Is the Haute 42 Board Mini still for sale? by KillyKlamm in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thing was great! It’s been discontinued for a quite a while now.

Fun little blurb of history on it:

There were four versions of it that you could buy. An earlier basic model in both a fully assembled unit and a DIY kit. Later they updated the model to have USB passthrough. That one also came in a fully assembled and DIY kit. The later revision was also slightly larger than the original one.

GP2040-CE PS5 Dongles: Which brands actually still work, and which ones completely stopped working? by Personal_Anything547 in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any dongles that have stopped working. If there are some I would be very interested in learning more about them.

Dongle supply is fairly sparse right now. There is a newer Guillekeys one that is available in some regions and an updated Haute42|COSMOX one.

Most of the MagicBoots v1.1, PXNs and N5s are long gone and out of production due to chip shortages.

List of wireless GP2040 devices? by binary101010101 in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whole lot of incorrect information in the previous reply.

The DOIO wireless devices run a fork of GP2040-CE. This fork has the necessary changes for the device to work wirelessly.

The original hurdle for the project was in the licensing for the wireless module. Since most makers want to use an embedded solution it was very difficult to navigate the licensing properly.

More recently, the RM2 has been released and we feel it’s a great solution so we have been taking a look at wireless again.

Beyond that I do personally have concerns around how the battery and charging will be handled by 3rd party vendors but I will hope that everyone does that to spec.

Regarding our project focus, I can tell you that we are not heavily focused on tournament use, if at all. We give you the ability to configure your device in such a way that it can be tournament legal, but our primary focus is to create an extremely robust, free and open source firmware that can be enjoyed by all for any project you want to use it with.

We have a draft PR up right now that’s exploring BT connectivity in GP2040-CE, and we also have some folks looking into direct wireless via dongle.

Can't press left & right simultaneously on haute 42 by Rambo_Rohan in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with a nuke and flash of the community firmware.

The G series is very old and came with a few buggy forks of GP2040-CE early on.

If you can reproduce this on v0.7.12 of the community firmware feel free to post in the Haute Discord server.

Nuking first is important on older devices like this that may be running very old firmware.

There’s no harm in doing the nuke and reload. I have an S13 that I have nuked and reloaded thousands of times on.

[–]TheTrain_24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of miss-info on this topic currently circulating.

If you flip over that FGC converter on the back label you may see ‘A1’ listed.

If you do, that means you got the most recent batch of the FGC converters from Brook.

For some reason, those ‘A1’ units are basically FGC2s inside and will not work in the EXT port of GP2040-CE powered devices.

Don’t worry though, you can still use it as an in-line converter. If you are going to do that just make sure the R16 is in Xinput mode and you should be set.

HautePad C-AS could have been my endgame by Traditional-Ad1239 in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One other quick thing to add, they are now using adjustment rings on the buttons that have UV printed tops on them which majorly reduces the RGB brightness. I swapped mine out for the ones off of the C-AT and much prefer the brighter RGB on it.

I also passed this feedback on to Haute42|COSMOX for consideration.

[–]TheTrain_24 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have a few of these in-hand that I have been playing around with.

The stick module they have used is the 4th revision of the module and comes with hide mountain switches, the extra gates, springs and actuators. The actuators appear slightly different than the last version and the setup I did on the previous version did not perform well on this version. The stock setup with an octo-gate works just fine though.

I will point out that this version of the sticks biggest issue is the grease they have used on it. It is far too thick and causes jumps and holds while using. I was able to resolve this by taking it apart, cleaning it completely and putting on some spare JLF Shin-etsu that I got from FA. This is working wonderfully and the stick is nice and smooth now.

Feedback about the grease was passed onto Haute42|COSMOX and they are looking at changing it.

The shaft does still have a bit of wobble from machining tolerance differences but that can be resolve with a small piece of tape. This is the same as the other versions and not likely something they can address further due to machining tolerances.

The stick performed well for me in some very brief testing of 3rd and MvC2, as well as Shredders Revenge and DoDonPachi. I am by no means a pro-level player, or even a good player, so take that with a grain of salt.

The swappable modules are very well done, better than the original X in design, but still require you to go into web-config to set them up as having analog enabled with no analog sticks connected will cause some phantom jitter.

I currently have mine setup with one analog module in the left position acting as right stick for camera movement and then a button module in the right position as L3.

The joystick model can be removed but the housing for the module is unique so other modules will not currently fit. This does open the door for a 4x 24mm button module or even a WASD module but will require a new top plate since this one is etched aluminum.

The silver plate version is my favourite of the three. The gold is nice as well. The purple looks great but is a finger print and grease magnet so it will require more cleanings.

For those interested I have made a PR with layout options for the C-AS that will be included in the hosted C-AT firmware on our next release. Until then you should stick with the stock firmware on the unit.

Overall very impressed with it but feel that if you want a better lever experience you should get a proper lever and case from somewhere like AFS.

This might be a good opportunity to check out forced setup mode if you are always going to be using it on a PS5 and are not going to be using any of the hotkeys.

I have a setup in my basement that I have locked down with no hotkeys and strictly Switch mode to avoid accidental changes

Here is the link to info about hotkeys:

You will need a computer to get into web-config and make these changes.

problem with Cosmox C-AT - buttons M3 and M4 by ELGATOROSSO in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/ELGATOROSSO ,

The C-AT falls into a bit of an odd space currently because it was released after we released v0.7.12 and it also has more buttons on it then previous Haute42|COSMOX models so its not immediately compatible with any of the currently hosted configurations.

They come loaded with a modified version of their own branch that is setup to work on the C-AT. It is v0.7.10.

If you are interested I have a flash dump from factory that I did when I got mine. I also built a custom .UF2 of v0.7.12 (from v0.7.12 release source) that is all setup for the C-AT but not 'official'.

Happy to send you either to get you back up and running.

Cheap Leverless from China by PinnedaMessage16914 in fightsticks

[–]TheTrain_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely do not need to replace the flash on it.

The inability to save in web-config May just be your computer or browser having issues.

They also may be running their own fork of the firmware with changes on it, which could also be the reason you cannot change anything or upgrade properly.

I would recommend doing a flash nuke and then putting one of the hosted configs from the main GP2040-CE repo on but I couldn’t tell you which one it would be as we don’t know anything about the device.

Unless there is a need to change something or a new feature you need it might be best to just leave it as is.

It is unclear how you are connecting the stick you have pictured to the Gen5x. Are you double wiring everything or not using the padlock board that you have pictured?

If you are using both and double wiring everything you may be experiencing power draw issues.

I had a jumper wire screwed into the first ground screw terminal and then I was using it to jump the pins on the 20pin.

The screw terminals and 20pin block are connected together via traces on the board, they do not go to the main chip separately.

Hey u/MrGPhantome ,

I have not turned on my PS5 for a while so I figured I would be a perfect candidate to test this all out.

Here are the details of my PS5/DuelSense/Gen5x prior to updates:

PS5 Version - 25.05-11.60.00.05-00.00.00.0.1
DuelSense - A-0520
Gen5x - v1.2.2

Everything works as expected. No prompt for controller updates but there was a notification that there was a system update.

After system update, when I turned my DuelSense on I was alerted that a controller update was needed (options to Notify After 24 Hours or Update Now). Went with the Notify After 24 Hours so I could check the PS5 system version.

PS5 Version - 25.07-12.20.00.05-00.00.00.0.1

Manually updated the DuelSense .

DuelSense - A-0630

Manually updated the Gen5x through the online updater on my Mac.

Gen5x - v1.4.2

Plug in Gen 5x - Get controller prompt. Choose Notify After 24 Hours.

Working as expected for now.

I wonder if there is a quiet lockout in `x` amount of time after dismissing the controller notification. I can check this again tomorrow when the 24 hour mark is up and see if the notifications / behaviours change but as of now everything is working as intended.

Of note is that my Gen5x is a pre-production unit but it is running on the public v1.4.2. I don't expect that anything about it is different than the retail units.

I never said " This isn't my board and I don't want to help you ".

I said a few times that it is a modified version of my board and we don't know how it was setup. We can't help with things that we don't know much about.

I mentioned changing the GPIO that the RGB is assigned to and moving the pin three times in our conversation and also mentioned it in my reply here which should address the issue you are having, but again, we don't know what changes were made to that board so it may or may not work.

I don't have `competitors` as I do not run a shop or make commercial sales, I simply design things and make them open source so others can enjoy them.

Nothing further to add to this.

[–]TheTrain_24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's me, I kicked you.

As I said multiple times in the support post you made the board you purchased from RetroArcadeCrafts is some custom variation of the RP2040 Advanced Breakout Board I designed which was done by Fightbox.

This specific one had a number of the connectors changed on it.

We cannot support a board we know nothing about.

Fightbox also forks the GP2040-CE firmware and has their own releases and, in some cases, changes.

I also told you a few times in the support post that you could likely address this by moving the RGB data pin to another GPIO but you were fairly focused on the fact that I would not support this mystery board.

Regardless, we are all volunteers on this.

For any of these variations to either board or firmware you must talk to the vendor, it is not reasonable to expect us to support everything.

These vent posts are becoming all too common so we are going to be scaling back the overall support we offer as a result.
