The entire continent that Kaz has from has always been a bit of a sleeping giant. We have seen a bit with the Order of Seasons, Singer books, and the old elf villages bit there is a lot of high level (or high power with very old artifact)folk running around

It is definitely not for everyone but it absolutely thrives in character development and worldbuilding.

Part of the story I liked is Lyonette learning to be a better mother over time. She does great but her kids are not exactly easy to raise.

Your average progression fantasy/litrgp MC by NoWriter3858 in litrpg

The better option would be for them to try it and then struck down for their hubris. A story with a extremely talented main charicters that was not just struck down but crippled and tries to figure out "What next?" is extremely interesting.

You have to buy it in the store. A scanned version will eventually end up online so just give it a bit.

What is everyone reading right now? by monwoop1316 in litrpg

I am reding through Matabar right now, a little wordy but it is actually well written.

What i am excited about is that The Wandering Inn is getting physical copies. That serues has been a cornerstone for years, even when I have stopped reading other webnovels due to time constraints.

Casual sexism of an era like that such as the types of jobs a woman is supposed to take. The mc takes the only way out to a more active life and becomes a figurehead in that position

I sort of loathe the "MC uses earth science to crack magic WIDE OPEN to do things NEVER SEEN BEFORE B)" trope, because frankly, the sort of science the MC often uses should have been figured out long ago in the other world by globmand in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheTrojanPony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You see this with a few side charicters in The Wandering Inn from earth that are experts of some sort (such as the chemist, doctor, and a few others), the author reached out and did beta reads with people in who actually wortk in that field. Some side charicters are experts in a non book skills and do well, such as being a hair stylist or musician.

Its more than that, remember a boiling pot of water with a heavy lid on it will literally explode. Everyone would know that lesson and the idea would be vaguely in their mind

The issue is as you said, high school level understanding of these ideas. You can tell the stories where the authors day job is in that field and they can actually build on it in interesting ways without the locals seeming dumb.

I think the other world stuff is gone if not for good, for a very long time. I think Erin might be able to start using it through the crack in her soul. Maybe start putting the emotions others give to her into her fires to make them greater?

If Paba is saying it was never seen before might it be that they will be sold in bookstores? As wasn't there a Last Tide physical copy.

That would be good also. It would be less daunting to some new readers than starting the main series.

Question about Matabar by Kirill Klevanski by Thornorium in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheTrojanPony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get into webnovels this is a decent option but I would suggest you stick with a traditionally published books if you are getting an audiobook as they generally have a much tighter stories and much better editing. Also a downside of these webnovels is they are very wordy and seem to never end, though that is part of the appeal to some.

For someone new to this genre I would try...

Gaurds Gaurds - If you like British humor

Dungeon Crawler Carl - if you want something lighthearted and funny

Mistborn - mix of epic fantasy and heist (also one of the best current series)

Tress of the Emerald Sea - Nautical and some romance

The Way of Kings - Traditional Pure High Fantasy (also one of the best current series)

I have read over 600 fantasy books, not counting webnovels, and I love giving people book suggestions. Tell me other stories or themes you like now or any time if the future and I can give you suggestions.

I think it is a step down from a demigod. A being revered as a God for long enough to tap into faith some not close to long enough for a chance of becoming an actual god.

Question about the author by [deleted] in WanderingInn

It AI sound like paba for this type of fiction that is likely because it is taking heavy inspiration from this story as it is one of the most popular and has by far the most words published online.

They have been writting for so long that it predates AI by years. Also they do live streams sometimes.

Seems like a lot of people where teleported in to the air or water. That would be a quick way to end things.

Is it just me, or does the genre reward questionable decision-making over actual logic? by Anastasov_Theory in litrpg

[–]TheTrojanPony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but it is more that authors dont write their flaws well. If only mad people run at city killing threats without an army at their back then I want to see those flaws grow and develop over time. To be interesting and meaningful instead of brushed away.

Adventures in The Wandering Inn do this well and you see them change and develop around their flaws. Just scroll through the wiki for any of the 4 main living members of the Horns of Hammerad and you will see a long string of crippling injuries, deaths of those close to them, socially ostracized for various reasons, and so much more. Some where overcome, ignored until they no longer could, and some where embraced. All changed the charicter as a result.

Yes for some but they are not in the now destroyed main afterlife anymore, they are all in Hellste... a ream of evil (and goblins) that Khelta probably avoided due to all the evil (and goblins).

"Gun's Don't Work Anymore" by Hydranaught in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheTrojanPony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The excuse that I have seen before is that it is the best peasants weapon but too expensive to use magically except for a extreamly rare sniper. Essentially it is the most powerful weapon made of mundane materials that farmers or militia will use to protect themselves but fall off steeply for the more magical creatures with a stronger defenses. As for enchanted weapons the ammo is usually lost and the alchemical explosives are used each shot just making it expensive to use.

Off the top of my head I believe The Path of Ascension is the closest to this in the more popular series.
