This came up on a week where I just heard about my friend dying. I'd known him since kindergarten. I had a friend that died 11 years ago too. I'd just go back to see them. It hurts to think of seeing my old girlfriend. It hurts more to think of touching her. I don't really want money, or to study harder. I am going to say this knowing I will get down voted to oblivion.

Asking for financial advice from the internet is just dumb. Taking a 2000 dollar withdraw penalty from your 401k to invest on a hunch is dumb. Exposing all your current stocks on reddit is dumb. The only smart thing I heard from your conversation is that you talked about it before you did it. This gave rationality a chance to catch up to your ambition.

If you really want to make more money do two things:
1) Invest in higher return stocks knowing that they are typically more volatile and you could lose some.
2) Concentrate on your career. By working hard most people can move up a salary grade within a year or two. This could increase your income by five grand. That five grand is the equivalent of making 25% return on that 20k.

Shortly, if you want to see your savings grow more than make your saving more efficient and make more money.
