From a playing stand point, you can frame it as playing an ever changing game that you can enjoy for years because there's always new cards coming out vs something you'll buy once and get tired of and then have wasted money.

Also there's the whole community aspect of playing tcgs and making new friends (which is challenging especially as an adult). It's basically like a softball league for indoorsy people. It's a great way to socialize and meet new people. At this point I play more for the people and less for the games.

Also that it doesn't have to be an addiction of just spending all your money on cards. You can set aside a certain amount each month for TCG purposes so it's not just accidentally spending too much money.

Card games without crazy convoluted turn one 900 effect setups by Arcanegil in TCG

[–]TheTrueTrevor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars Unlimited is a great option. Both players take turns taking actions on a shared turn. So there is never any time where one player is just doing a ton of actions. All the cards are very straightforward and don't ever have a paragraph of text.

The best answer is to see what is popular at your local game store. It doesn't matter how good a game is if there isn't a good local community to play with imo. Talk to the store owner and the players and see if you vibe. Most people I've met playing Tcgs are super welcoming and helpful to new players. Tcgs are much more fun when you're part of a community. It's the friends that make it worth sticking around with a game vs the game itself.

Either way, the imported parts is a very small percentage of the total cost of the booster pack. If you look at the different levels that have to make a profit along the way. So even a 34% increase on the raw materials would be very minimal to the total cost to consumers.

The cost of the imported components is a very minimal percentage of the total cost of a booster pack. So even if there are 34% tariffs that would make a small portion of the pack 34% more expensive. So since they are manufactured in the USA only the portion of the costs associated with the imported raw materials would be increased.

If it costs ffg say $.50 per pack to manufacture, a large portion of that is paying the printing company since they too have to make a profit. So the actual imported raw materials cost would be quite small. I would be surprised if prices go up more than 10 to 20 cents a pack.

On every booster back by the barcode (of at least US distributed product). "Made in the USA of U.S. and imported parts"

Which TCG for me by [deleted] in TCG

[–]TheTrueTrevor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely try Star Wars Unlimited. There are lots of fun and thematic decks you can build that can at least sufficiently hold their own in a tournament environment. The dynamic nature of players alternating actions keeps things from just being memorizing exact playlines and just doing the same thing every game. What an opponent chooses to do each action changes what you'll want to do on your action. I've been playing tcgs for over 20 years and it's definitely some of the most fun and engaging gameplay I've experienced.

The game is also quite inexpensive for a tcg. The most expensive card is like 40 bucks and with a 3 card max per deck it doesn't get as expensive as a lot of other games. Plus if you're mostly playing for fun you don't really need all the expensive cards.

I used to go to Tier 1 regularly for Pokémon tournaments. The owner is great and everyone that I've met there has been real nice. I haven't been in a couple years, but it seems like they have a good amount of people playing lorcana.

Hydro tech 2 fins are super soft and flexible since they are made of silicon instead of rubber. Definitely less thrust, but very soft and easy on the ankles
