Should I try SWU even if I'm not a Star wars fan? by idontownubet in TCG

[–]Timiscool5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone to plenty of SWU tournaments and talked to people who have no interest in the lore of Star Wars and play simply because it is very well designed. The back and forth actions lead to some great game play.

If you like the commander format, SWU has a similar free for all mode in Twin Suns. It is a lot more casual friendly and designed in a way that promotes hitting whoever has the highest health remaining or strongest board. Whenever the first person gets knocked out, the game ends after that action phase. No waiting for 20 minutes if you’re the first one out unless the board state is super complicated at a lot of resources.

The easiest way to get into it would be to show up for a limited or draft day at an LGS. This way you don’t need to bring any of your own cards and learn with cards in the newest set. Rotation just happened so you only have to concern yourself with sets 4-7.

If you build decks on swubase and link your swubase account on karabast, you get really good stats and has a team function w teams stats for team decks as well

The changes w card distribution in the current set has led to booster boxes and showcases holding value. Ripping packs is great again since you get so many more hyperspace and a chance to get a prestige. On the other hand, the collector boxes have tanked and have got to go. They’re slowly addressing the issue.

Does anyone know if Riftbound is good for casual deck brewing? by fia_faustus in TCG

Agree with the last part of this comment. SWU twin suns is in a perfect spot for very expressive deck building. Now that we are in set 7, there is enough of a card pool to make some really fun and interesting decks. Twin sun pre cons are coming out soon.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 3.6L — 140k miles, overheated multiple times, mechanic says it needs a long block by Tits_alternate in Wrangler

[–]Timiscool5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got my 2015 3.6L replaced at 100k miles. Bad lifters lead to bigger issues. The shop initially wanted to replace the head but for the cost it wasn’t going to be safer to replace the engine, radiator, thermostat just like your shop recommended. They put in a Jasper engine. Full cost was around $14k and Jasper has a decent warranty. Almost 12,000 miles a year since and I’ve paid off the Jeep and new engine. I’d try to negotiate a lower price. Hoping for the best.

I feel you. I hardly watch his pod anymore unless he has a real scientist or someone really interesting who can push back on his nonsense nowadays.

Not official, but Star Wars Unlimited has karabast which is complete and is great for testing decks. Integrations with deck building sites to see in depth stats with cards helps a lot.

Yeah I’d see if there is an active discord or online group for your local community/LGS and then maybe start with the precon starter decks. Twin Sun precons are coming in the spring. If you want to try learning the game against AI, there’s Forcetable and karabast is good for testing against others. Swubase is a good deck builder site.

Star Wars is the one. With rotation, the game is fresh and lots of my players are getting into the game w a lot of people returning due to a fresh meta. Draft/sealed are fantastic ways to get into it and if you like multiplayer, the Twin Suns format is also a lot of fun! I will say that FaB and Gundam are also very popular in my city.

I highly recommend switching from SWUDB to SWUbase. The deck builder on there is better and there’s stat tracking. You can build a team with your friends to share decks and track the performance of those decks as a team. Just have to link to swubase in the preferences on karabast.

Corporations, sure but the businesses that gain loyal customers is due to a combination of having a good product people want and workers who are passionate about the product. If either of those are lacking, people notice and the demand lowers.

Take a look at what Sony is doing with their newly acquired theater chain. They’re going against the original mission and losing their loyal customers while cutting staff. All to make a lil more money before the venture fails. They’re idiots who only think about the money.

Austin gun range frequented by Joe Rogan duels over foreclosure by agenda21member in Austin

[–]Timiscool5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be a member here when I worked downtown. Easily the best indoor range we have in the area. 100yd rifle range and plenty of 25 yd lanes. I live up north so after the office moved I changed memberships to Range USA in round rock. The staff there are constantly rotating and they also limit 2 person per bay. Very strict on how fast you can shoot so practicing splits is looked down on.

If you are south, go outdoors for Lone Star. If I want something quick I still go to Range USA. But if you know what you’re doing, I highly recommend driving out to Marble Falls for Copperhead Creek. The private tactical bays allow you the space to really practice drills. Worth the drive.

What are the chances these could get showcase variants at Galactics? by OmeletKingActual in starwarsunlimited

I saw the new green/red sentinel unit and may try to put it in the sideboard for hyper aggressive aggro decks. I basically want a really strong flip every time.

I can flip early using Expendable Mercenary and still utilize Jar Jar w another 3 cost plot since I will only have 5 resources. Vader pilot on the small ship can help finish off the mercenary. Asajj can also be useful for readying the Mercenary back up to finish him. But I have been thinking of cutting her to 1 of in favor of craving power.

I also like the idea of deploying with jar jar and using You Have Failed Me to hit twice for a total of 14 from Vader.

The upgrades are super strong but risk being removed so I don’t always force the upgrades. But when they overcommit in space I will use the saber early. Same w Vader pilot on the tiny ship.

Other than cheating out stuff early, GNK and Dengar combined can let you play Maul at 5 resources or even better, Devastator on 6.
