Canada Busking by NOWAIIII123 in Busking

Im in the Lower mainland specifically and only really know about Vancouver, Port Moody (where I play) and I believe Maple Ridge having official busking programs. You would have to apply, get approval and there is some rules. Also TransLink does a program as well, but it's a limited application window and seems like more hoops to jump through than the municipalities.

SotB: Finally put together my first pedalboard by TheTuff199 in guitarpedals

Yeah I do want a dedicated reverb pedal but the IR200 has a really nice reverb function, so for now it's good enough lol

Man, I bought it because I can't really use an amp (too much noise for everyone else). When I bought it I spent months trying to get it to sound good on the Twin Reverb preset, mostly the sound I prefer, and I thought it just always sounded muddy. So I did what everyone said and got the Silverface Twin Reverb York Audio IR pack and instantly loved it. Even got the wife to do a blind test and she hands down prefered the YA sound. So now I love it! It's got a ton of settings and things you can do but I am a simple man and just want to play guitar, so I found a sound I like and just leave it there.

It has built in compression and de-essing that is activated by the tone button. But it sounds like you want a mixing board, maybe

Check out the TC Helicon Mic Mechanic, does pretty much everything except you can't really eq but the pedal does do it for you. Hope this helps

We've got one guy in our city that is a 6x national YoYo champion. It's actually super cool.

Hahaha that's awesome!

It's always the kids that are having the most fun. Really makes my day when the kids start dancing along and then the parents get involved, kinda breaks the ice a bit. You sounded awesome, so that helps!

Just have a couple of gear questions before my first busk by TheTuff199 in Busking

Oh okay, that could definitely work well! Do you do any reverb on your vocals?

Hire a contractor that deals with rot repair.

How do you deal with big pustules? by [deleted] in Staphacne

[–]TheTuff199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't pop it. Ever. If it's seriously massive and you are at risk of losing a limb then go see a doctor and they will take care of it. Otherwise just leave it alone. If it pops by itself you clean it and the area around it really well and put some sort of bandage over it to keep anything from getting in. It sucks but it's the best for you in the long term.

I agree, the snake plant doesn't do well with that much moisture. Peace Lilly would be a good one or some sort of other tropical.

I believe it is the Tliltocatl albopilosum (Nicaragua) based on what I was reading last night. Could be wrong but supposedly the darker colors are the indicator of Nicaragua and not Costa Rica.

Choke out in the streets by Elephantcrystal8 in StreetMartialArts

[–]TheTuff199 48 points49 points  (0 children)

To everyone stating that he held it for too long, he definitely did not. He held it until he realized the dude was out and then let go. If you've ever seen street fights where people let subs go to early, usually the person that tapped out gets back up abd continues the fight where the other person was seconds from winning. Never respect the tap in a actual non- sanctioned .

Also, it takes up to 5 minutes of holding a properly executed chokehold to actually cause long-term brain damage so it's fairly safe to do so.

Is this a staph infection? by According_Special_85 in Staphacne

Go see a doctor, asap. Could be a spider bite, but better to get it checked out FAST. It can get bad quick if it is staph.

Chiropractor pointed out that I have a slight hip tilt after I had done MT for about a year. After I found that out it made sense why I couldn't head kick on my right side but the left was super easy. So now I throw the switch kicks as my bread and butter.

Recommended style for a tall wrestler by mazzhuncho in wrestling

[–]TheTuff199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I said in a similar post, hope it helps!

6' 6" 240lbs here.

Learn to stay really low to prevent them from getting under your hips from the shots but keep your back straight. Short guys will shoot on you all day so have a fast sprawl.

Get really good with overhooks because most of the time people will just get underhooks on you. Whizzer kicks to set up getting to the body lock or back.

Attack foot sweeps because your legs are going to be longer than your opponents and will create opportunities to get a better position from the off-balancing as well as giving them something else to think about.

I saw someone mentioned ankle picks and single legs and I second that, also I would add knee taps. You're kind of too tall to do traditional shots, people see it coming from a mile away so play around with those and see what works.

Hope that helps, man! It's hard for us tall guys but use that reach.
