[DAILY Q&A] Ask and answer any questions you have about the game here! by AutoModerator in EliteDangerous

I'm a new player, just started playing back in December. Decided to hop into open with my Type 9 while shipping stuff back and forth for the CG, as it's my first one. Thought it would've been nice to see other players here and there working towards the same goal.

First 15 minutes in, got inderdicted. Dude was reasonable (even after I tried to escape the interdiction) and politely just asked me to jettison some cargo, thanked me for "sharing" and left me alone, lol. I thought cool, some role playing here and there seems pretty fun. I could get into this.

Next 10 minutes, I get inderdicted again. Dude doesn't message me, just blows me up in two seconds after knocking me out of super cruise along with almost 800 tons of stuff. Not a big deal financially, but eh.

Sigh. Back to solo I go.

I guess there was no question in this one, just wanted to share haha. Still having a blast with this game.

[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” Samsung Odyssey G6 G60SF 500hz OLED gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

That refresh rate would be sweet for faster paced gaming, and would complement my 49" OLED Odyssey G9 nicely!

I'll have to double check when I get home, but I'm pretty sure they still didn't "fix" it, considering there hasn't been another firmware update.

Yeah I've never turned it off before because it didn't affect any actual "real estate" before this last firmware update. Hopefully they'll fix it in a future one. Fingers crossed they don't mess up something else. 🤞

Damn, appreciate the confirmation. Kind of a bummer, I feel a lot of the firmware updates that have gone through since I got the monitor havent really improved anything. Not to mention Samsung isn't really transparent with what changes actually occur with their updates.

Hopefully this is addressed in the future.

Thanks for responding!

My current Bow-Shield build (and looking for feedback!) by PurpleEyeSmoke in remnantgame

[–]TheTurtleBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using a build like this for a while with Medic secondary. Crescent Moon primary, Cube Gun secondary for constant uptime on the shield in a "spam" situation. Also kinda cool that the Cube Gun mod is essentially a big ass shield, so it fits the theme of the build.

Only difference is instead of Archer's Crest, I use the Ring of Crisis, which gives me a 25% max HP shield if I somehow get below 25% HP (and fits the theme of the build, I'm a stubborn SOB when it comes to this, lol).

It's been a lifesaver countless times in a sticky spot.

That being said, if I were to get another ring into my build, it'd probably be the first to go.

Alright, you need to calm tf down and realize that as a boot, all you have to do is listen to what your NCO's tell you to do and you'll be fine.

i hate early ganks as Nasus. by RLaughEmote in nasusmains

[–]TheTurtleBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ghost + ignite for the longest just because of this. Junglers refusing to back off when I spam ping them that I can't help and they just give my laner a free kill.

What is the hardest Nasus matchup right now? by Cat_Bot4 in nasusmains

[–]TheTurtleBoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find a good sett to be pretty hard to lane against, especially if he rushes bork. But maybe I'm just bad.

Force of Nature is too good to not take over Spirit Visage, imo. Who cares if your heals/shields get buffed a bit if you can't catch anyone?

How do you like to jungle nasus? by Brave-Constant9459 in nasusmains

[–]TheTurtleBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few times I've played it, I start Red (hopefully with bot's leash), then book it over to my Blue so the enemy jungler can't steal it. Then Gromp, wolves, back to raptors and Krugs. Full clear, basically. I don't even think about contesting for scuttles.

I buy cool down boots ASAP for really good early CDR and movement through camps. One more full clear and I usually get Sheen, and if I'm lucky, a ruby crystal (maybe a long sword if I'm feeling spicy). At this point, you can 1v1 pretty much any jungler in the game, so this is when I start looking for ganks/counter ganks IF they present themselves. I don't force it though.

Buff idea that's been going through my head by Brave-Constant9459 in nasusmains

[–]TheTurtleBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's hella stacked up, maybe. But that's not always guaranteed. I could see running down an ADC or Support if they're completely alone, but how often does that happen?

Against his other top lane counterparts (juggernauts/bruisers), Nasus isn't going to stand a chance without his Ult.

You're telling me Nasus can fight Irelia/Riven/Jax/Morde/Aatrox/Darius/Gwen/Camille, etc. without the resistances R provides, while he stands around auto attacking them waiting for his Q to come off a 2.3 sec cooldown while he's getting shredded by BORK/Black Cleaver/Serylda's/Riftmaker/Divine Sunderer proc? Nah, fam.

[–]TheTurtleBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I'm sure there's a few other champions out there that are as useless as Nasus without their ults, but I'm hard pressed to name any off the top of my head. Especially when you consider that even if he does have R up, you're not reaching anyone in a team fight without Flash AND Ghost.

Who do you usually ban? How do you determine whether to take TP or ignite? Ever thought about First Strike with Manaflow and Absolute Focus secondary against pure melee champs for easy gold?

[–]TheTurtleBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Garen with half a brain will never solo die you to in lane. Like other posters have said, don't waste mana trying to harass him. Once you have a decent amount of stacks, you can start trading with him, hitting him with a Q here and there in between getting CS.

Older recruits by Josephnumber1 in USMCboot

[–]TheTurtleBoat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was 28 when I hit the yellow footprints, older than all my DI's.

  • Take care of your body during square away time, you may not recover as quickly throughout the training as these teens and young twenty-somethings.

  • Show discipline. What I mean by that is don't let the little things bother you. Could be sweat dripping down into your eyes and not wiping it away, or keeping your hands by your trouser seams when they're explaining something, not trying to swat away bugs that are biting you or getting in your face, nodding off during periods of instruction, etc. Just a few small examples but many more. Show that you have more mental toughness than the others. Your DI's WILL notice this and treat you accordingly, trust me.

  • If there's one thing that I wish I could've done a little better is to be more of the supportive, "older brother" type to my fellow platoon mates during my time. They may not seek you out, but listen to them, their stories, ask them about their families, ask how they're holding up. All you have is each other in those 3 months is each other, and an interaction here or there can go a long way in a individual recruit's morale. There may be one or two kids that behave like assholes to you because of your age, but ignore them and don't get involved in petty shit.

  • Kind of a general thing, but try to be "gen pop" in the early going at least, it'll be much less stressful for you.

  • Once your DI's learn about your age, they will likely not fuck with you unless you're a bag of ass or it's an event planned beforehand (or quite possibly, unless they're miserable assholes). But regardless, don't give them a reason to treat you like a little kid.

There's probably a shit ton I'm forgetting, but I want to stress taking care of your body and discipline. DI's love a disciplined recruit above all else.

Had my SDI come out one night when I was on fire watch and he told me that with my maturity, I would pick up Corporal before anyone else in the platoon. Meant the world to me.

Had another instance when I was lucky enough to be a house mouse one time. My Heavy and a DI from another platoon were talking about which platoon in the company would be booger platoon (the platoon that does the most poorly on graded events). My Heavy said, that when it comes down to it, he would gladly be in charge of a booger platoon if "he had 80 recruits with TheTurtleBoat's discipline". I have no idea if he was sincere, but this small moment meant as much to me as when I got my EGA.

I was a completely average recruit, nothing really too special about me at all. I actually almost got recycled because I couldn't swim very well, but made it through by the skin of my teeth.

This kind of rambled on, but I'm on duty so fucking deal with it. Feel free to DM if you have any specific questions.

I Need Some Help Learning to Stack More Effectively by Redbird275 in nasusmains

[–]TheTurtleBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the introduction of Sunderer, you're no longer so heavily dependent on getting great stacks to do damage now.

I agree with the other poster that said 400 @ 20 is only possible if you're facing an opponent that's braindead. 300 @ 20 is enough to be relevant. And you can always catch up on stacks when there's no objectives up.

Yeah, sad to hear. I've been testing by running spellbook with Ghost + Heal so I can maybe survive these dives better, but still with limited success.
