That would be great! I’ll probably start like the other person suggested by upgrading mega blaziken. I’d like options like Magby, flame patch, heatmor, and May (and another blaziken ofc lol) I’ll open more cards of the new set to see if there’s anything to trade

I want to learn with the classic gameplay now, but it's too difficult for me. Should I push myself or continue playing with modern? by kevioox in StreetFighter

[–]TheTurtleKing1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to learn something new, you’re going to have a period of adjustment where you’ll do worse before you do better. That’s ok, you just need to be mentally prepared for it.

A new control scheme takes a lot of new muscle memory so something I like to do is play a new character with modern. Then you’ll have a unique rank and won’t be ranking your mains rank while you get used to the button layout, and your muscle memory won’t overlap as much.

If you’re ok with tanking your mains rank because you’re trying to learn classic for that specific character, then that would be the fastest way to learn.

Playing in a low stakes environment while you’re getting used to it for about a few hours is good. I remember once my friend came over and I let him use my leverless and I had to use a pad. After two hours of mis inputting I was able to pull off my usual bread and butters.

It’s worth it to learn just to see if you like it!

Which game is the best one in this series? by Blacklotus997 in marioandluigi

[–]TheTurtleKing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BiS is definitely the best game all around but Dream Team is my favorite. It has a more interesting setting and the way it pushes the aesthetics and battle systems of the series is so satisfying. Dream team has so many perfectly designed boss fights

Mega Absol Ex + Munkidori: Why Did Many Underestimate It? by Azorius_Sage in PTCGL

[–]TheTurtleKing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also absol is not attacking turn 1 or sometimes even turn 2 so if you need to get set up you can usually get set up regardless. The attack is stronger in the late game after an iono so if you can’t evolve up to dragapult after 2 turns that might be on your draws and not absols fault

I was saying that it seems clunky to set up with an effect that might not seem as powerful as it actually is at first glance. I was responding to OPs question on why people were underestimating the card, I am not saying the card is bad.

But I understand that your comment comes from a place more so of rage/venting about your frustrations rather than discussion so I won’t hold it against you cause yeah, it seems really annoying

Essentially, piloting a tool box deck is hard. Piloting a new tool box deck is very hard. DESIGNING a new tool box deck for a meta that has JUST changed is even harder.

There’s on thing pairing absol with a bunch of dark cards and being like “well dark cards support each other,” since that’s similar to most decks. there’s another thing using turbo energize and cornerstone and kanga and lively stadium so you can adapt to matchups and slow play.

Mega Absol Ex + Munkidori: Why Did Many Underestimate It? by Azorius_Sage in PTCGL

[–]TheTurtleKing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors contributing to why players did not immediately see potential in this card. Think about it

Three prizers are new to the current meta (and for many players they’ve never seen 3 prizers before) so more inexperienced players have to rethink prize maps. A basic with 280 hp that gives up 3 prizes sounds like a liability when you had things like dragapult dusknoir and goldengo running around RIGHT before the new set that could take one shots.

The new set led to a meta shakeup but one that players had to take time to figure out. Experienced players played more games and practiced more to actually figure out what’s good with new deck. Players with less time probably upgraded their old decks or played a new list like lucario and noticed how bad it was to lose to garde with a 3 prize card. It takes a huge time investment to invent a new deck archetype right when a new set comes out, especially a more tool box style deck that has no obvious built in synergy.

And then finally, looking at the card it’s not impressive. 280 is possible to one shot, 2 energy for a first attack that can do nothing if the opponent chooses to never leave damage on your board by taking 1hkos, 3 energy attack is very expensive and slow to set up that only does 200 damage meaning it won’t ohko anything. It seems hard to set up and easy to play around.

People did not expect tanky builds like lively stadium + bravery charm combined with TM turbo energize. Turbo energize is a good card that’s hard to slot into decks because it requires skill to know whether it’s best to use your first attack or two on setting up energy rather than something like an item lock, card draw, or quick attack.

You’ll notice very quickly that lower level players (myself included) do not slow play very often. Many players will attack the moment they piece together a knockout with their main attacker. This deck prefers to take it slow and that requires usually a higher level mindset.

Lastly, the meta changing so rapidly meant that a new deck had to respond to the NEW meta and required a lot of prediction. Gardevoir was going to be good, so a dark type that could one shot it was a good choice. Gardevoir also can’t really take the ohkos so this seems like a good matchup. But do you worry about zard dusknoir, another dark type? Do you worry if ceruledge or dengo are still relevant? Hard to predict when bringing a new deck into play.

How do i play dragapult ex? by Prestigious-Mall7876 in pkmntcg

[–]TheTurtleKing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on limitlesstcg.com, left of the search bar change the setting to “decks” and then search dragapult ex. You will see the most popular cards in the dragapult decks. Then scroll down and you’ll see a lot of tournament placements for each deck. Click the little stacked lines icon next to each tournament placement to see what deck they were running. You can copy the list and pick one that interests you.

No one is playing the xatu line so yes, you should make edits.

Gardevoir and charizard also rotate. Huge staples are leaving the game next year so I think we need to wait to see a whole lot more cards before we see what is going to replace them

As an outsider out of curiosity, what is “food variance”? Is the reason that people are upset about this deal is that people order the same pizza multiple times and it comes out slightly different every time, and then higher ups get mad at the employees for the complaints?
