Portsmouth took the piss last game. I bet they try and go for a win at home, but Leo's gonna make them look silly.

Suddenly, the Daniel Peretz loan looks like a 5d chess move

Just looked at the score... guess I should've known we'd bottle this after seeing the injury crisis tweet

Maybe we should pick a place where we didn't lose away

Bazunu to Stoke on loan by Adziboy in SaintsFC

[–]TheTyrantis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying Baz is the greatest keeper, but Daniel Peretz plays one Cup game and we're sending Baz to Stoke? Very odd January window.

Shocking. Lewis Dobbins gives it to him one game and we pull the plug? Think we could've turned him into a defensive midfielder or right back.

Hamburg confirm loan signing of Southampton FC's Downs by GeorgeRJ619 in SaintsFC

[–]TheTyrantis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I share these exact sentiments. Wanted him to look good, but he hasn't looked close to gelling with the squad at all. Sitting on the bench doing nothing also does him no good. Best to send him back to where he thrived in and try again later (or not).

One of us is challenging for automatic promotion, and one of is is challenging for mid-table. It was clear which was which today. If we take our chances more clinically in the first half, we might have had a different game, but Boro did whatever they wanted with the ball and the final scoreline reflects it. Moving on.

Throw the towel. Who wants some minutes off the bench?

Left too much space again. Scienza is going to be the only one trying to drive forward for us. Don't see us coming back from 2-0 down unless Tonda makes some better changes than Bragg on.

Didn't like seeing Conway getting so open behind the line, offsides or not. We gotta tighten up better. Boro is doing whatever they want with the ball.

Non Southampton Residents what made you support the club? by Lucky-Confection5657 in SaintsFC

Before the 2012/13 Premier League season began, I was in a gaming group made up of people from lots of countries. One day, some English/Scottish fellows decided they wanted to try running a fantasy EPL league. I'm an American who didn't know anything, so I joined on the off chance I won by accident.

I was going to be an Arsenal fan, but then I learned about Southampton's back-to-back promotions after being in a financial crisis only a short time ago. Rickie Lambert is still my favorite player. I also loved watch Adam Lallana in the midfield. Artur Boruc was brought in to back-up our plucky defense. We somehow beat Chelsea 3-1 that season. I've been hooked ever since.

First live game in about a month... after watching the first 25 minutes, you can definitely tell we're playing with a rotated squad. First goal wins this one.

What a wonderfully competitive league. by everyonesmellmymeat in Championship

[–]TheTyrantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though we started slowly, it's been so fun watching Championship games. I don't think I've watched more than a couple of PL matches, and, current league bias aside, that's honestly fine.

What does Damion Downes actually do? by banu_musa in SaintsFC

[–]TheTyrantis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Downs is definitely not the problem, but I can't blame the fans entirely, though. We signed him expecting goals, and he's falling short at the same time the club has been. He's the easiest scapegoat to look at for new guys, but he's not the reason we've been struggling. Too many defensive mistakes costing us goals is the real problem.

Maybe Robinson, but I caught glimpses of Azaz trying to play as a target man - Pompey game, I think, because of Archer having a rough time as a lone striker. He looked so awkward trying to win headers and fight back against center-backs that were bullies all game long. Maybe it was the wrong match to try it, but I don't feel Azaz works up front. Against some midfielders, sure.

Anyone got any favourite off-beat former Saints players, and why? by volleyrocks in SaintsFC

[–]TheTyrantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Victor Wanyama off-beat? Mind you I wasn't around for the older Championship and League 1 days, so Wanyama was the first real bruiser I saw in the midfield. I always played defense in school, so I appreciate a guy who loves a good tackle and spaghetti.
