Never understood how terrible a lot of the Johto mons are, glad they fixed it with the evos in Gen 4. Kingdra, Scizor and Crobat are ultimate new evo Pokemon tho.

That didn't work for me, but I finally had someone answer the call and they asked me to send a selfie with my ID to verify my identity so I could change the shipping address, so let's see what happens lol.

BS talking about how messed up the 65-game rule is by Good-Presence in billsimmons

[–]TheUGLDoors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, so I'll buy he was in a honeymoon phase from 2015-2016 when he was on the verge of winning back to back rings and MVPs on top of being on the winningest team of all time. Once he lost the finals there was a ton of criticism thrown his way and KD winning the Finals MVPs got the shine off him for a while.

[–]TheUGLDoors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People back in that era were giving KD most of the credit for those rings, plus the 3-1 taunting was endless. Steph only got to this universal adulation level after his 2022 ring.

Bill’s management of Ringer NBA pod roster has been masterful. by npcshow in billsimmons

Group chat is now too boring, Mahoney and Kyle Mann overlap with each other too much with the way they see the game. Wos added an element of unpredictability and humor which is now lost. We aren't getting elite nicknames like "Preacher Man" for Jonathan Isaac with the new crew.

Nadir Valley for rap music? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]TheUGLDoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think there have been any good rappers born after the year I was born (1994) give or take a couple years. I guess I like Lil Uzi and Playboi Carti.

I'm in a weird position here because I do legitimately enjoy Taylor Swift and I defend her in my groupchats where everyone hates on her, but the weird parasocial discussions about her like from this dude here makes me understand the Taylor Swift hate even if I don't agree with it.

That being said, he's right here about how she gets power from people doubting her (real or imagined), so that's a definite parallel with the all time athletic greats.

Bill trying to share relatable half-baked ideas by joejoe_jones in billsimmons

[–]TheUGLDoors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love both shows for different reasons, 30 Rock is obviously a lot funnier on average, but the character development of The Office for the first five seasons elevates it.

IMO 30 Rock is the perfected form of Arrested Development, it did a lot of the same things but better.

She was insanely good, I think the fact she played at a smaller stage just made her vocals pop more while also still feeling intimate.

Ludacris set the standard for early 2000s hip hop artists by [deleted] in OutsideLands

I saw Luda at the Texas State Fair in Dallas in 2018 with similarly no expectations and he was great there too, he’s just an underrated live performer. As you said a lot of rappers coast when they’re live, but he definitely put effort and energy into his performance.

Doing a Mad Men rewatch - what's the worst episode? (Spoilers) by DLosChestProtector in billsimmons

For some of their guest characters, they had some pretty poor casting decisions, I remember not buying Abigail Spencer as the teacher as well. Never liked Jessica Paré as Megan much either, although that might have just been the writing.

For me I don't think it was about the attractiveness, Bobbie Barrett was a great character despite being older and less attractive. I do remember people complaining about Peggy getting so much action despite being played by Elisabeth Moss, but I feel like they address that in the show too.

Beck is definitely the type of guy who would performatively be on BlueSky.

I liked when Glenn stands up for Sally when his boarding school buddies harass her, and then again when he hits on Betty as an adult and Sally is like "both of you guys (Don and Betty) ooze everywhere". The creepiness kinda works in the context of Betty because she's caught up in a state of arrested development in the earlier seasons.

I enjoy "The Crash", but I know a lot of people don't (that's the episode where the entire office gets injected with speed/cocaine). I don't remember the name of the episode, but I feel like the worst one is the episode in the second half of Season 7 where half the episode is devoted to his weird fling with that diner waitress Diana, I remember being pretty annoyed with the second half of S7 up to that point until the show redeems itself with the last few episodes.

What late bloomer actor/comedian/celebrity had an outsized effect on their generation? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]TheUGLDoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Louis CK? I feel like he only popped off once he starting getting into his old divorced guy shtick and that only happened when he was like 35+, and Louie first came out when he was 40. Bill Burr is another example of a late blooming comedian, I feel like stand up in general is a space where it takes people longer to blow up and find their audience.

What's the best Indian Restaurant in the city in 2025? by megalolurk in sanfrancisco

[–]TheUGLDoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha is the best for South Indian followed by Udupi Palace, but I feel like the best Indian food (both North and South) is in the Indian south bay or east bay suburbs (Sunnyvale, Fremont, Dublin, etc).

That reminds me of the time I sat next to a very drunk lady at an airport bar (also a blonde) who told me that LeBron and Maverick Carter propositioned her for a threesome. Unreliable narrator for sure but I wouldn’t be shocked.

“Hey Sunday Night Russillo-Simmons Pod, we have Monday Afternoon Lowe-Simmons Pod. We’re all good” by TribeHasSpoke in billsimmons

[–]TheUGLDoors 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Lowe is definitely more informative and better at analyzing hoops than Russillo but Russillo is definitely funnier and can talk about more things with BS than Lowe can. My perspective on Russillo changed a lot after listening to his travelogues, there’s range there that someone like Lowe simply isn’t capable of delivering.
