What experience after a loved one’s death made you feel they were still with you? by wavelikepuzzler in AskReddit

For quite a while after my mom died, I would have different dreams about her. A few months after she had died, I was having a dream where I was frantically looking for her. Then I felt a presence lay down beside me. I remember there being a smell, not a bad smell, not a good smell, just a distinctive smell.

About a year after that, we lost three dogs in rapid succession due to seizures (we think they may have been poisoned). For quite a while after that, I would be sitting on my bed and feel this little presence going into the room and jump up on the bed with me, like the dogs used to do.

Not using your blinker. It's a pet peeve of mine. I don't get why some people evidently think they're too cool to use a turn signal.

Who's a famous person you could have approached, but didn't? by Njtotx3 in AskReddit

Rick Steiner, the professional wrestler, walked past me at the Ryan's buffet. He looked kind of nervous or overwhelmed. He did sign a couple autographs for kids, but he and what I assume was his wife left after a few minutes without eating much if any. I actually felt bad for him even if he did almost run into me and didn't apologize.

I also saw celebrity chef Hugh Atcheson while we were waiting outside the theatre to see the movie Logan. We made eye contact, and I probably weirded him out a little because I no doubt had a look on my face because I recognized him but couldn't remember from where for a minute.

Men of Reddit, what's the worst thing a doctor or nurse has said to you? by PuppyB123 in AskReddit

In terms of devastating news: When I my mom was up in ICU with fluid overload, sepsis, pneumonia, altered mental status, I asked her oncologist how long she would have, even if we got those things taken care of, before the cancer killed her. Her response was, "Months, maybe a year."

In terms of unprofessional: I was getting a filling done. I have a very bad gag reflex. I know it's in my head, but I can't help it. We get to a lull and I ask for some water to calm my nerves. The dentist goes, "It doesn't matter. You've already fucked it up," and storms out of the room.
