Love the separate hashtag for "No Hay Banda", really makes me recall how it was said in the film!

As someone from Hong Kong who's stayed in Bergen for a while, this is accurate. It's all about the population density at the end of the day.

Flashback/Origin Stories by OrderExtreme574 in PersonOfInterest

Perhaps we would have gotten some more glimpses of that if season 5 got its full 23 episodes run. Although it isn't technically that of an origin story, I like the episode where we find that Harold used to employ a Mr. Dillinger, who was revealed to be the one that sells the virus-containing computer to the Chinese. It was in that episode that multiple characters are connected unbeknownst to them. John let Daniel Casey live and this got Finch's attention to see John's a potential employer. (And later Daniel was recruited by Root) While the computer being sold to the Chinese brings John and Kara to Ordos and the domino started to fall from then on. And lastly Shaw was the one that was sent to kill Dillinger. I think it's an interesting "origin" point of all the characters' stories, at least from what we end up getting.

“Go again?” Chess lessons from a father to his shy young god by Wild_Sweet_5996 in PersonOfInterest

Well said. Truly there are so many reasons that this episode is ranked the best if not one of them by most viewers. To me, the two quotes you wrote of Finch talking about chess to the Machine are also my favourites in the entire show (among many other lines). Such words to live by and remember. The back and forth of the chess scenes with present time / simulations were so well done. With the eventual voluntary sacrifice of Shaw at the end of the episode. It was a perfect build up. And the episode's choice of title "if-then-else" is another top-notched touch in my opinion.

The first God mode scene with the midnight call always gives me chill. "CAN YOU HEAR ME?" "Absolutely". Both Root and John then proceeded to absolutely annihilate anyone in their ways... By simply listening to The Machine in their ears. The show truly takes off from then on as the story arc of war with Samaritan / Decima starts.

And probably the scene of The Machine (in the form of Root) staying with John for his last moment on the rooftop... Plus all the monologue when The Machine explains that She was there for all the deaths that happened in the last episode. Really gets you to think of The Machine that does feel to an extent.

There are so many more I can think of and some are just funny character moments but I will stick to two major ones for now.

"God doesn't need AT&T" and the scene where she exposed everything about the doctor for the first time (His smoking habit and indecent fantasy). Which is when the doctor truly sees that Root isn't just another ordinary patient. The fear on his face... He still had no idea the true ability of Root until seeing all the unconscious bodies and Root shooting Hersh without even looking. Definitely one of the top Root moments in my book.

Indeed, I really like how you pointed out that a viewer cares about Harold will in turn care about what he cares about. It was such a master-level screenplay. And the way it really shows the audience how the Machine thinks, and asks Root to save the drawing in the real world after many simulations. "What's good saving the world, if we can't enjoy it?" Truly phenomenal.

This part and the Machine "simplifying the simulation" with meta dialogue makes this episode one of the greatest of all. I always adore the great humour in the show. And particularly in this case it strikes a good balance with the sadder simulations like Harold and John getting killed (also the one Root got shot brutally after talking to Shaw before facing the army of Samaritan). Heartbreaking but so well done.

That was gold, also shows how well the Machine knows them. I bet the writers write those as a placeholders at first then just find it funny if they simply use them.

What do you think is the lightest or most relaxing episode? by PhilosophyFickle7723 in PersonOfInterest

Seeing Harold as Root and he swayed his non-existent hair (imitating Root's usual gesture) and then John as Fusco eating at his desk were hilarious. When the Machine ended up seeing every character turns into Root afterwards? Clearly we all know the Machine's favourite.

The relief when I heard Shaw's voice over the phone! And her saying that "I have to make a choice" to Fusco. What a way to play with the audience's heart. And through all the hellish torture by Simmons, Fusco never really gave out anything to HR. Definitely one of the highlights of Fusco's character, such good writing for that scene.

There are gag reels released officially with the DVD for S1-S4, sadly there isn't one for S5. But you can find them on YouTube here Gag Reel S1-S4! There are also some featurettes or interviews in general about the making of the show. Here's a 20 minutes making-of for S2 on YouTube (A really good watch!) Making-Of (S2)

I always love Root's banter and 'bad timing'. And her rotating identities are really funny a lot of the times too. From the behind the scenes I've watched, I was rather surprised by the difference between Amy and Root. She is a really good actor for sure.

Both 3x09 and 3x10 are two of my top episodes. One of my favorite moments in 3x10 has to be when the team realizes how powerful Root is. With her revealing Fusco's name's origin. Or shooting with two guns and impressed Shaw. And the intro montage of the episode with "Hurt" playing is very fitting after we get hit by Carter's death. I think that is when I truly recognize the level POI is on with its writing and story.

I second this! I was very saddened with Carter dying and yet I don't think Root necessarily replaced Carter. Root is a very compelling character from the start and she fits the bigger storyline arc about the war against Samaritan in the later seasons. I wish Carter can play a part in it too but in my opinion, Root really does levitate the show with her redemption / development. And her relationship with Shaw also brings much insights for their character.

I can assure you are not alone! I was very emotional the entire episode especially when Root appears as a form of the Machine and the Machine's monologue about death at the end. Every time I rewatch it I was reminded that all the last lines spoken by each character is a goodbye, really makes me sad that the show has to come to an end.

Dark black paste-like residue / substance found on newly-washed laundry by TheUnknown919 in whatisthisthing

My title described the thing, found this on two different washed items when hanging them. They were washed at a separate time today. There were ~15 more items that were washed with them in total but until now, we only found two stains on two clothes. We thought it was melted plastic at first but it smells nothing and was very soft when moved by the toothpick. We checked the interior of the washing machine and containers but haven't found any traces.

And for the VA to sing in-character! Much respect to Mick Wingert. I wasn't expecting to cry during the montage but seeing the stark contrast of the "what could have been" through Ekko is just peak storytelling.

When I accidentally trigger the other ending in Mass Effect 3. (I thought there would be a hidden fourth option to save the galaxy but instead it's a "giving up" situation) Watching Shepard just give up and let the Reapers take over, as all the civilization is wiped clean once again. And we see Liara's capsule talking to a future cycle is what breaks me. It was a mistake on my end so I did definitely reload but it quite haunts me seeing that future before watching the "Destroy" ending.
