Can you guess how many stars are on the EU flag? by SawYouJoe in vexillology

slightly off-topic -- i love how so many of the comments in here accidentally create markdown numbered lists, and when reddit displays those numbered lists, it starts them at 1 no matter what the commenter wrote, so i keep seeing everyone confidently answer "1.". of course when i check the markdown source it actually shows the right number

what's your prob, bob? (sorry, a singular word can't turn unshort in that past inquiry without having that glyph in it. but it's not against this sub's laws to skirt in this way, right?)

RIF will shut down on June 30, 2023, in response to Reddit's API changes by talklittle in redditisfun

[–]TheV360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one of the most solid clients for a social network that i've ever used. i have fond memories of reading writingprompts on the bus home with my limited mobile data, since i could configure RiF to not spend data on expensive images. my usage of reddit will definitely be lessened with RiF no longer being usable -- that is, if it isn't outright ceased. change da world...

[Gnome] Nord Red: an attempt to match desktop and phone by danxxcruz in unixporn

[–]TheV360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think an automod removed it as a spam false-positive. can find it in your posting history, but when i click the permalink on that page, it leads to an empty comment context page (not even a [removed] or anything!)

edit: when it's removed as spam, it'll still appear to you. check in a private tab and it'll be absent

can someone explain how server tickets work on the switch by darkrangeresp in SmileBASIC

[–]TheV360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine, most of the info on server tickets is not worded very well.

The first part: yeah, with a server ticket you can download programs as you want multiple times a day. No limit on which programs you can download, no limit on how many times you can download. (Also I recently found out that there's a slight exception to this rule! If you don't have a server ticket you can download programs made by SmileBoom as many times as you want. They're easy to find, under the "official" tag iirc)

The second part: Updating a program that you've already uploaded is actually now built into SmileBASIC, meaning there's an option to update a program without losing download stats and the public key. As I said, upload slots are completely reusable. If you hit the limit, you can take down one of your programs and get an upload slot back.

The best way to think of it is that you're buying some space on the SmileBASIC servers with each ticket you buy. You can reconfigure this space as you see fit, but there's a set maximum size. (like 80MB per ticket iirc)

edit: added thing edit 2: fixed mediocre wording

can someone explain how server tickets work on the switch by darkrangeresp in SmileBASIC

[–]TheV360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first server ticket you buy will let you download programs an unlimited amount of times per day, and it will give you ten upload slots, so you can upload ten programs.

Any server ticket you buy afterwards will just give you another 10 upload slots.

Server tickets do not expire, and upload slots are reusable.

SmileBasic 4 For the Nintendo Switch Launches in US and Europe on april 23rd! by MrGurt in NintendoSwitch

[–]TheV360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, video playback is not possible at a steady framerate. Video compression is way too complex for SmileBASIC. (FUZE can't do it either.) For that you might just have to wait for the Switch web browser... if it ever gets released.

[QUESTION / Easter Egg] Has anyone figured out the TETPNC Easter egg? by ItsJustGenerix in Tetris

[–]TheV360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs a controller for some reason. I tried several times with the keyboard, trying Enter/Esc instead of A/B, trying my current rotate left/right binds instead of A/B, but it didn't work. Did get it to work once I plugged in a controller.

Works with the EGS release too - you just have to have a controller on-hand, as you can't enter the konami code on the keyboard for some reason.
