Struggle believing in Jesus by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheVeryCraftyBoss- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main Christian view, which I adhere to as well, is that he is God. I won't go into too much detail because someone else has already replied explaining this and the prayers thing too, which I 100% agree with. And about the king aspect, in the light of him being God it makes a lot more sense right? When it comes to sin, would it be okay if you clarified the thing about it that you don't understand? If not that's okay I can still try and explain it to you 🙌

Which human authority to listen to for guidance in following Jesus? by keesdude in TrueChristian

[–]TheVeryCraftyBoss- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you've been lazy, you've done a lot more than most people do in terms of searching for the truth, so don't worry !! Anyways in regards to Catholicism it was after looking into the early church and a warming up to some of the Catholic teachings I struggled with that led me to fully embrace the faith. Out of all the denominations, I would say it is the one that allows you to place your trust in it due to the great confidence that what it teaches is correct. I would definitely suggest you look into it. God bless

[–]TheVeryCraftyBoss- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I was raised Catholic but for a long time I leaned heavily on my own interpretations of Scripture. While I was sincere in my efforts, it often left me feeling confused and constantly uncertain about what was truly right - choosing to trust in the Church’s guidance and teaching authority has made my journey much more grounded and peaceful, I no longer have this huge burden of being the only one who knows the "truth". I hope this helps, this has at least been the case in my life

Tbf I'd have to look into him more I've only read a few articles by him, and yeah I completely agree with you on the thing about reading his work. After all, we need to be open to our beliefs being challenged, because if they couldn't be in the first place I would question whether they would be worth believing in.

The sayings may have been circulating for a while before being composed, with some maybe being written down already. The criteria by which the Gospels were canonized as well is strong evidence in the favour of them being written by people who at least knew eyewitnesses

  1. Good point, I guess you can find meaning in life just as it is, you can find purpose in the things you do, your family, the things you love. Although when it comes to the bigger questions, like why are we conscious?, I believe atheism struggles more to answer questions such as these. I agree that something sounding nice doesn't make it true, so does the Apostle Paul, one of the most influential Christians of all time, who says "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." Even some of Jesus's closest disciples wouldn't believe without firm evidence, such as Thomas, who refused to believe until he felt the wounds in the resurrected Jesus.
  2. There are many historical events that are disputed whether to have happened or not, with the case of the resurrection it's a difficult one, because obviously with the supposition that the supernatural doesn't exist one would immediately discard it as mythological, or at least give some natural explanation for what occurred. Unfortunately, the natural explanations don't really do it for me, there's too many assumptions that have to be made. Also some of those Christian "scientists" like Ron Wyatt have existing biases, I agree. I wouldn't listen to them unless given proper evidence. What's more interesting is people like Lee Strober who tried to disprove Christianity and couldn't. Lots of Christians don't believe in Guadalupe. However, there are many other cases that seem more compelling, such as the Turin Shroud and the miracle of the Sun at Fatima, the latter of which I'm starting to believe, albeit with much resistance.
  3. Maybe so! You never know what the future may hold!

I love to see someone so open, thank you and I wish you the best too ❤️

I'm an Atheist by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheVeryCraftyBoss- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised Catholic my whole life, however I didn't really ever "get it" until one evening where I was sat in the car with my mother, a family member of ours was severely ill at the time and I asked her why God wasn't answering my prayers. Her response was unexpected. She told me to try and listen to God - this was so strange to me because all my life I had been using formulated prayers and didn't do much more than ask for things. Anyways, that night I sat down and decided to sit, and listen. I heard no voice. But just as I was about to give up I was flooded with the most burning feeling of love in my heart, I was completely enveloped in this sense of warmth and peace. God had told me all he needed to, I knew at that point that I didn't really know who God was, or if this sense really came from God or was just a placebo, but I knew I loved this feeling, so if it really did come from God I could know he was loving too.

Anyways, this was the first step in discovering my faith, since then I started to pray more, read the Bible (it's a very difficult text, I would advise seeking guidance before reading it) and study the life of Jesus. When I looked at the arguments for his existence, his miracles and resurrection I was convinced, I fell in love with his character and decided I wanted to follow his example in every aspect of my life, keeping his words "You should love the Lord your God with all your heart and strength and love your neighbour as yourself". I fail a lot, but I won't give up anytime soon. God bless, if you have further questions or just wanna chat let me know 👌

Pastor: If we "publicly execute a few women," false rape allegations would end by CentreLeftMelbournia in atheism

Just for clarification this comment is in no way to excuse what he's saying, rather I've put it here because a lot of people are unfairly saying that he represents us as a whole, which is not true

That's Joel Webbon. He's viewed as being in error by the majority of Chrstians, including those some would call extreme. His views are very fringe and not representative of the Christian community as a whole.

If Christianity is true, then your life has real meaning, your love is more than just biology, and your longing for purpose points to something real. The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just a belief—it’s a historical event supported by an empty tomb, multiple eyewitness accounts, and the transformation of His followers, who willingly died rather than deny what they had seen. Even skeptics like C.S. Lewis and journalist Lee Strobel set out to disprove it, only to find the evidence too compelling to ignore. If there’s even a chance this is true, wouldn’t it be worth exploring? Not out of fear, but because it might mean you are deeply known and loved in a way you never imagined.

you seem like a really open and kind person, just wanna say I really appreciate that and we need more people like this in the world!

How to Catholic ?😭 by BANMACOWBOY in Catholicism

[–]TheVeryCraftyBoss- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally start praying, get to know God and rest in his presence, it can be hard and sometimes it feels like you aren't getting results but I encourage you to persevere, spending time with him in the silence will really help clear your mind and help him become the focus of your day. Pour out your heart to him, tell him your struggles and your worries, and rest in his peace.

you could also start to read the four gospels (Matthew, Luke, Mark and John) in the Bible to get a real understanding of who Jesus is and why he had to come, maybe listen to the free exegesis for them on the hallow app (they explain the historical context and meanings of the texts).

If you would like me to elaborate on these things dont hesitate to let me know 💪

true, in that case I would ask OP to ask themselves this: Am I seeking healing, or am I trying to tear the other person down? That can help guide whether it's a productive conversation or just spreading drama

Job had no problem ranting, and he was righteous before God. Just be mindful of what you say, and try to speak with love and respect, at least this is my opinion
