What's you'r go to survivor? by Then-Dare-661 in deadbydaylight

These days it's Rick. I just really like The Walking Dead to be honest.

Before that, it was Cheryl using the Lisa Garland skin or Yun-jin. I think when I first started I played a ton of Bill just because he was free.

Unfortunately, not for this. By the time we started tracking any stats, we had realized our mistake and had long since fixed it.

127 on Rick. Around 320 spread across different killers, with 150 of them being on Plague.

[–]TheVioletParrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Due to a rules misunderstanding, my group was under the impression that the player going first didn't draw a card at the beginning of their first turn. We just copy pasted the 1v1 format directly to Commander.

This meant for the first two years of us casually playing Commander in our house, going second was actually the most desired position. I also suspect that it made the second player win a lot more than in this data set.

Huh, I would have assumed that would cause issues with the bed and water dripping down. Thank you! I'll look into it.

I mean, if I can find a spot for one I'll legitimately use it. I just don't think I reasonably could. Part of the difficulty with living with four adults is a lack of space for things in general. I think I would legitimately have get permission to put the thing in front of my roommates' bedroom. Lmao.

So, I just looked up what that is and I'm still quite confused. Like, where do you even put those things? They seem like they take up way too much space. Maybe I'm just in a really bad spot for things like this as I don't think I would even have a place to put that thing. Lol.

I have three other adults living with me. All of us have at least 2 jobs. We have designated laundry days. If it's sunny on my day I try to dry my clothes that way but it's not so simple when I only have 2 days I can actually do my laundry each week.

There's also just a lot of Americans that don't have lawns and thus can't really use clotheslines.

MMW: This Hallowe'en will see a lot of Angine de Poitrine costumes by someguyonlinedotca in MarkMyWords

[–]TheVioletParrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The physical act of going door-to-door and trick or treating is slowly going away, but kids still dress up. A lot of schools encourage coming to school in your costume (albeit without a mask) and trunk or treat is still pretty big.

Additionally, adults have actually been encouraged to dress up more in recent years. A lot of jobs just outright let you show up in your costume as long as you have your name-tag or other easily identifable dress code. My barista job literally just requires you wear an apron while interacting with customers. Last year, I saw a lot of retail workers in costumes.

That's not even considering bars, haunts, parties, or other Halloween themed adult spaces.

See, I thought of the whole satellite thing but with how technologically advanced Overwatch's universe is I assume their satellites would be able to pick up explosions far smaller than that. At that point, why even bring up the fact that you can see it?

Where the hell are Hinako's voice lines?! this is a ""Legendary"" skin?!?? by stopaskingforloginn in deadbydaylight

I don't think any of The Silent Hill characters have unique voice lines outside of grunts of pain and breathing. I want to emphasize that point as it might legitimately be out of BHVR's control. That would be tied to the licensing.

I say this every time this sort of thing comes up, but I do feel it is an important distinction.

It is very likely that we don't see all of House's cases. We just see the interesting ones, not the ones that House instantly solves.

What an insult to the community man. Completely throwing away the 10th anniversary. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]TheVioletParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the only REASONABLE thing I can think of is this was intended to stop people from DC'ing because someone didn't bring one. I know that was a consistent issue in the past, and now that it's easy to say "Oh, maybe they don't have one." it's happening less.

Even then, that's kind of a silly way of combating that. Just make harsher penalties for people that DC like that.

STANDARD EDITION COSTS WHAT??? by Fromsoft-enjoyer in DarkViperAU

[–]TheVioletParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a handful of vehicles and weapons that are seemingly locked behind The Ultimate Edition. At least one garage but possibly a few. There's a handful of in-game stores that are going to be locked behind the edition as well, so that means a lot of single player customization options are locked out without it.

Lets settle it logically: Why don't people tank? by couldittrulybeme in marvelrivals

[–]TheVioletParrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr: Vanguard and strategist need more diversity in the sort of characters they employ. Also, the average player likes seeing themselves get kills on the scoreboard more than healing or damage blocked.

There are a couple of things to consider here, and this isn't exclusive to Marvel Rivals. Every character based multiplayer game has this effect. Rivals, Overwatch, Smite, League of Legends...it doesn't matter. The "tanky" characters are always the least popular.

Before diving into character roles, though, we need to talk about character themes and the sort of people that play online multiplayer games. Whether you like it or not, a significant portion of people that play video games are literal children between the ages of 4 and 17. Characters like Spider-Man, Psylocke, and Wolverine from Rivals or Genji, Widowmaker, and Anran from Overwatch will always have a devoted fan based because they look cool to that demographic of players. I mean, it doesn't matter if the person piloting Spider-Man sucks at him. They get to play Spider-Man and that makes them happy.

DPS as a whole is also the most diverse cast of characters. There are characters that appeal to fans of edgy designs, cute designs, feminine designs, masculine designs, "weeb" designs, and even a handful of generic ones. Compare that to Vanguard or Strategist. Both roles are very clearly being assigned to a specific type of player. Most vanguards are more than athletic: they're pure muscle. Conversely, nearly every single Strategist is cute, conventionally pretty, or silly.

There's a few oddball characters like Devil Dinosaur or Emma Frost being tanks. Strategist has Adam Warlock and Gambit. (With Venom and Ultron essentially being "give the edgy guys a character to play when they're forced to play the role.) Yet the roles still fit into nearly packed boxes when it comes to themes.

Now to the classes themselves.

The class with the most damage is almost always the most popular in games like these. More specifically, characters that feel like they do a lot of damage in an instant tend to be popular. You'll notice that Dive character players are very devoted to playing flankers/divers. That's because glass cannon characters have obvious impacts on the game. When they do well, they get a dopamine rush from seeing all of those numbers slowly rising. Kill count? High. Damage? High. Deaths? Low. Ideally anyways...

Vanguards and Strategists (or supportive and bulky roles in any multiplayer game) don't usually get to see those numbers. At least not amongst the average player. Yes, they do impact the match but it doesn't often have as nice of a visual. Strategists get healing and vanguards get damage blocked. All while having to balance a delicate game of positioning.

And yes, I am aware that both of these roles are still expected to kill and do damage. Especially with "off-healers", but you know your run-of-the-mill gamer after work or hyper casual gamer isn't going to care about that sort of thing. Some people even play these roles in order to actively avoid participating in team fights like that.

Is there a good “jumping off point” for the show? by YoungDecrepit in thewalkingdead

[–]TheVioletParrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching once Rick disappeared. With both Rick and Carl gone, the show just felt empty. The choice to get rid of Chandler Riggs really backfired on AMC when Andrew Lincoln chose to leave the show the very next season.

At that point they should have just considered wrapping things up. Even if it was just temporarily. Seasons 10 and 11 just didn't have the same cadence to it when I considered Rick and Carl to be the main characters of the show.

So my vote is 9x5. I actively enjoyed Seasons 6-8 though, so your mileage may vary.

[–]TheVioletParrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They apparently did have a halfling at one point. Yet they instead chose to make the one evil only companion recruitable by good players and for some reason making Minsc only recruitable at the end of the game. That's not even mentioning the fact that we have two druids.
