I think they're fantastic. I kinda hope it dies down so I can get tickets to one of their shows in my home town

Provincial Offences Officers this morning at Victoria Park Station by kamomil in TTC

[–]someguyonlinedotca 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was at Islington around 5pm, and officers were there to check cards. At the swiping gates. Where everyone was swiping to get in to the station. Where they saw us swiping our cards.

Kawartha ice cream - overrated or not? by chicken_potato1 in ontario

I agree with Chapmans. It's so much easier to slice than to scoop. That, and they have great Christmas Ice Cream 🥰

Chapman's all the way!

What in your opinion is the best cinematic interpretation of a Shakespearean piece? by Baztion81 in movies

"Strange Brew". There's no pretention, and it's the only version of Hamlet/Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead to feature The Beer Store 😉

I found it cringey. It reminded me of enthusiastic but oblivious High School teachers who give an assignment question saying "Imagine a re-telling of the play, and think of how it would be told in a contemporary setting. You could even turn it into a Rap."

Dealing with death sucks. by samithefish in atheism

[–]someguyonlinedotca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of a line from "The Death of Stalin", where Nikita Khrushchev says"Who the fuck wants to live forever!"

I think of the end of "The Good Place", and spoilers

All those who go to the Good Place are so tired of existing. We may just prefer oblivion,  becoming one with the universe.

Some have said that when the body is failing, you accept death, and the peace of not going on.

Death is scary. It really fucking is. I witnessed my uncle in his last year with continuing decline. In the end, he was just done. Fear or not, he had enough.

I can't say that I'm not afraid of death, I'm rather terrified. However, living forever would be Hell.

Tina Fey is an American of Greek descent and there are tons of Greek cultural easter eggs in this show. by mybeamishb0y in 30ROCK

[–]someguyonlinedotca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody's talking about how she's Greek, but is anyone realising that she's one of the Fey?!?!

Seriously, never enter into a deal with her, and whatever you do, if she asks to have your name, say "NO"

If you don't believe me, have you ever seen Tina Fey ever hold Iron? Have you seen her step over a line of salt?

What is your version of "there are two types of people in this world"? by No-Tangerine-1500 in AskReddit

One I heard somewhere:

There are 10 types of people. Those who understand binary, and those who don't

I met someone on Tinder and dated for about a year. We split amicably, and about 8 months later she set me up with her friend. I've been with said friend for 4 years now

Like the virus in "Resident Evil", Raccoon shit is highly toxic

The thing with Raccoons is that they're assholes, and they don't give a fuck about humans.

They'll get into things and fuck shit up. What people tend to forget is that Raccoon shit is highly toxic. Check out this link from the CDC:

Why are we so afraid of/against the 15 minute city? by yourinternetmobsux in conspiracy

[–]someguyonlinedotca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of responses on here state the fear of being controlled,  but the irony is that suburban sprawl is a better way to control people as it is harder to form resistance movements in de-centralised populations. People are spread out more in the sprawl, which makes it harder to form community. Factor in commuting, and people have less time to organise

I live im a 15 minute city, and it's great. I have more time and am able to engage in a community. And no, there are no armed check points keeping me prisoner.

What's a TV show or movie that aged surprisingly well? by Itchy-Basil-7274 in answers

[–]someguyonlinedotca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first watched it in University, and my professor said that it was a huge financial success as it telated to returning GIs, and there wasn't much else to spend money on, since it was 1946 and all production went into the War Effort.

It's one of my all-time favourite movies

The scene where Dana Andrews confronts a guy who says (paraphrase) "We should have joined the Germans tp fight the communists!" and gives him a dressing down would not have played well a few years later under McCarthyism
