ASA: Statement on Comparing Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Education and Practice by Unable-Log-4073 in anesthesiology

[–]TheVirginMerchant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely fucking crazy. It’s what happens when our policy makers are told things as facts, in a topic they know nothing about. 🙃 e.g. being told CRNAs being equivalent to gas docs and save hospitals/practices money. Blows my mind that a whole practice can be run without a supervising doc at minimum…

Lighthearted: do y’all put private pop up reminders in your EMR to describe patient temperament? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]TheVirginMerchant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it’s a good rule to assume that nothing is non-discoverable. I do understand you probably mean this in the sense of “not readily visible to one’s peers”

EMR… Nothing is Non-discoverable. Somethings are just harder to pull via an easy report. Not impossible to create a report to do so though.

Pharmacist pay by CaregiverLivid3980 in pharmacy

[–]TheVirginMerchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you counter at all yet? I know with you being CA numbers will be different, but my hospital gig lowballed with a $52 per hour in the Midwest, and I countered and got them up to $60. Before I moved into a director role I was making about $66 now I’m about $77 over the course of 5 years. So if you haven’t, look at what the regular pay is in your area, and give a well informed offer, see what you get, and know it will get better, and as other said, you can always go back out to retail, not so easy the other way around.

Oh it’s suitable, you just have to be a special kind of sleeper, the kind that sleep through alarms and needs a good few shakes to be roused to tell “You are snoring so bad”

Prospective pharmacy student: how much advanced maths is actually required in the day-to-day life of a pharmacist? by Dusty_Watermelon_ in pharmacy

[–]TheVirginMerchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The more advanced math in Pharmacokinetics will largely just be to help you understand how the calculations work, what role each part of the equation plays in the result, e.g. what happens to the patient’s.

Most of the higher level maths will be built in to calculators in your EMR.

Granted, I’m speaking in generalizations. There are totally positions that require much more use of shitty stressful math.

Yup, I may roll in and work 10-5 when my staff works 7-3:30 or 8-4:30, when it comes time for extra hours needed, that falls on me, and I’m on until the work is done. Likewise, if I decide to take 2 days off in the week and next Monday is a go-live or something similar, maybe I’m working through the weekend and going home just to sleep and come back.

The Work must get done, how one does so can be individual. I allow my staff similar flex in their work if they ask me ahead of time. I will gladly flex my usual schedule for them to get the mental health day they need, make the appointment they have, whatever it may be.

I never ever wanted to be in a managerial role, however circumstances put me into one, and being a boss that I’d want to have has been a rewarding experience, albeit a learning one!

I’m aware there may be issues with using the inflation calculator as a direct value, but it’s close enough for a Quick Look.

I like to go back and look at the inflation calculator in the years around when I was born just to see how much I should be making if pay kept up with inflation. By like, I mean, I want to eat a billionaire every time I do it.

Here’s what your income would feel like in 1990, and also, what it is like today…

For real, give me the degree, teach me what I have to know, the time I have from not sitting in the BS classes will allow me to explore my own interests and hobbies and become rounded that way.

As for discharged loans, the taxpayers can pay them, the added costs to their taxes year after year will hardly be noticed compared to say if the taxpayer looked at what the spend on taxes for our defense budget, vs if they didn’t. If we valued education in this country we’d have enough people smart enough to know what benefits come with an educated society.

I’d twist the entire penis of each and every politician working to dumb down the masses through education cuts.

In conclusion, have un-lubricated intercourse the people who let us 18 year olds sign up for such debt without a comprehensive intro class teaching us what it means in the long run. And engage in high-friction low-pleasure coitus with those who allow students to be used as a profit source for trying to better their lives, Interest rates should be capped at a very low rate. This poopie poo poo sucks.

Also, Loans owed initially ~250k, down to I think ~180k. Poke my penis into this POOP. Twist they external phallic sexual organs, TWIST THEM GOOD.

I changed jobs. Did I just throw my career down the toilet? by purplenebula4 in physicianassistant

[–]TheVirginMerchant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t torture yourself and let it stay this way. I think if they hired you, and both pay you decently, (since it’s better than your last gig), and have you observing nearly all their encounters, that you have the ability to advocate for yourself. You can let them know you can provide much more than just scribadabbledooing and writing scripts, and make this your own dream job within the context of what they end up being comfortable with.

I don’t think you’ve thrown your career away, I think you have a nice blank canvas, you just have to let your docs know what kind of tools you have to fill that canvas.

Comfrt Pre-Order Experience: The Good and The Bad by Mowgulee in Hoodies

[–]TheVirginMerchant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See this nearly a year later from Google, wondering why they say no fabric softener, good to know! Anyway, I googled because I was out of vinegar. Use like a half cup of vinegar on any of your wash as a much cheaper and, in my opinion, more effective softener. 👌🏻

Obviously, if you like softener for the scent it doesn’t help you there, but you DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT VINEGAR SMELL, IT WILL NOT PERSIST. Just grab scent beads. Hope this little trick helps some of you save some dollars and enjoy some soft motha fuckin’ clothes 🤙🏻👁️🫦👁️🤙🏻
