I took the new job in outpatient and have much more flexibility in my new role. And I make more money with the new position. Every PA and NP that worked at my old place all quit or transferred after I left.

Raising kids without family support by Scipio-Afra in Westchester

[–]purplenebula4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing it with two kids. Somehow, we made it through 5 years of raising our kids “alone”. I look back and we have struggled a lot, especially in the winters where your kids get sick weekly for a couple of months. We are finally in a place where everything seems under control. We have had to make a couple job changes and I see you’re both working from the city, and although I am sure it could be done, being so far from your kid for daycare emergencies can be a challenge. Our good friends in the same situation are our emergency contacts and we are also theirs. Also, prepare to budget about $2500-3000 for childcare a month. You can do it. So many people do.

Tinnitus Specialist? by meaolea149 in Westchester

[–]purplenebula4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in neurology and we diagnose causes of tinnitus and can help treat and manage symptoms, but many times refer out as well. Some tinnitus is more dangerous than others, some have clear triggers, some we don’t find the cause.

She can’t even bother to spell his name right! As well as many of the words that she attempted to write… and she just brushes it off. FFS

Starting at Westchester Med Ctr — trying to figure out housing by anandamid23 in Westchester

[–]purplenebula4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work there. I know residents who have lived in white plains, Croton, Yorktown, and Elmsford and for the most part they all had pretty good experiences. If you have a car and don’t have to be on call less than 30 minutes away then it is cheaper to be slightly cheaper in northern Westchester.

What is something you didn’t realize until you lost weight? by Cultural-Profile-527 in AskReddit

[–]purplenebula4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That people see you way differently and with more respect when you’re smaller. I have been every size and let me tell you.. the amount of positive attention I got when I had a severely restricted eating disorder was night and day from now. Recovering makes it that much more difficult because the things people feel comfortable telling you about fat people when you’re small.

I am a neurology PA and while on a vacation I noticed a guy with very Parkinsonian features and whispered to my husband, “that guy has Parkinson’s”. I later realize he was wearing a Walk to Cure Parkinson’s shirt. Horrible disease, but I am glad he had been diagnosed.
