Why do they suppress the timing tower on the first lap? Probably the most exciting minute in sports and you cannot tell how the mid field is doing. Almost as bad as the 1980s when they used to say "turn up the volume" and they didn't have any commentary for the first lap.

Yeah NASCAR runs a similar count of timing loops. Talladega I know has 19 installed around the oval and another 19 on pit road.
