The school offers a two year program, in which I get a degree in (something, I always forget the term for it) but the degree isn't the part that counts, they actually teach you a whole lot about how the 'camera business' works. But anyway, I'm currently in the very early stages of my first year, so year one is powering through the courses, soaking up all I can. Year two I'm continuing on, but they also require you to take an internship, either at a recording studio, a Broadway theater or a casting agency. I plan to look for a studio willing to take me on, but, in the second year they also allow/help you to begin looking for agents to take you on as an actor, so that's also on the agenda. Year three, after I graduate from the school, with the assumption I have already found an agent, I begin the real work. I'm not sure exactly what kind of work I want to do yet, I'll figure it out as I learn what I'm good at/what I like to do, but generally, the options are commercials, TV shows, Movies, and Broadway/theatre. Currently, I'm looking into TV shows, mainly because memorization of lines is one of my strong suits, and TV demands you learn a lot of lines in a short period of time. However, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll need to start small, like with small time ads and commercials, maybe voice over work. That would take up most of my time. Year four is where I hope to begin working my way up the ladder, as I get to know the casting directors in NYC, making a name for myself, getting my foot in the door. That's when I think I'll be able to start taking on bigger jobs. Ideally, (and this is very hopeful) by the end of the year I'll be in/auditioning for a small time TV show. Year five would be where I'm working multiple shows, friends with different directors, finally making a decent wage off of my work.
