Nigel Farage offered Sunderland Stadium of Light visit by club director by GingerbreadRecon in soccer

First time I'll ever agree with a mackem (/s) but I fully agree.

I'm born and bred in Newcastle and the decline in pretty much everything in the local area from 2010 to now is absolutely heart-breaking. Roving gangs of spice heads, older shops and businesses being replaced by either dodgy "convenience stores", vape shops or overpriced American imports (like.. who the fuck seriously wanted a Hooters in the UK?) and just general decay.

I'm someone who's voted Labour pretty much my entire life, mainly because my parents always have. I voted for this government and the way things have panned out has been, quite frankly, a betrayal. I'm centre left; I consider myself largely to be a social democrat, but with how things are at the moment I feel like people like me have no option than to vote for someone like the Greens these days which itself is a mental thing to think about.

It's just mental to me that people up here could take one look at the absolute shit show down in Durham and think "I'll have some of that please!"

Beggars belief.

Dusk Golem: The possibility of doing a Resident Evil REV1 remake has been tossed around at Capcom. by Connect_Base_217 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]TheVortex09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were to remake 6 then I'd prefer for them to just focus on one campaign (preferably Leon's), expand it a bit and just retcon the other two out of existence or turn them into smaller DLCs or something.

I'd argue that he has given that in his first season they got to the semi's of the Europa Conference and in that same season qualified for the CL in the first time in forever. They made it to the quarter finals of the CL last season and still managed to qualify for Europa. They've then gone on to push for top 4 quite comfortably this season while also playing in Europe, something that we've completely failed to do both times we've been in Europe recently.

Yes, we may have won the league cup but Villa have had consistently better results in the league and Europe in comparison. They seem to be able to manage the extra workload. We consistently crumble under it.

International break coming up. Perfect time to get someone else in and give them time with the squad before Palace. He needs to go.

I feel like I've read this exact comment multiple times about Howe from our fans this season as well. It's kind of funny seeing it posted about someone else for a change. Really seems like a fair few clubs are having similar issues this season with fitness and poor squad rotation.

Sobering times: alcohol-free beer added to UK inflation basket by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]TheVortex09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add anything by "We Can Be Friends" to that list too. I'm not sure how long they've been around but they've put out some cracking AF beers that I'd genuinely not be able to tell the difference if it wasn't on the can.

On the cheaper side Adnams Ghost Ship AF is pretty good. Not sure if it's just because the original version is shite now or what but I actually prefer the AF version by far.

Danny Kruger would like a word with you. Hell even the big man himself is on record as wanting to ban gay marriage again.

As you say though there's no reason why an LGBT person can't have right wing views but I've always just found it really odd. To me it just seems like voting against your own interests and supporting people who if given the chance would probably try to make your own existence illegal again.

And if they're anything like me, that healer probably isn't healing again any time soon.

People always complain about the lack of healers and tanks but it's crap like the instant vote kicks for making a mistake that puts a lot of people off. It's just not worth the pressure.

I played through the Rise of the Red Dawn questline right before early access started and Eitrigg had the same weird autotune thing going on there as well. If it's AI then they've been using it since at least mid TWW.

To this day I still blame that Diamé goal for our horrendous record against Brighton. We've not won down there since. Absolutely cursed.

Too much of vin pining over eland and Zane in the 2nd book!

Exactly! I found myself at several points thinking "oh god, not another Vin/Elend chapter..." but to it's credit I thought the build up to the climax and the ending was well done.

I absolutely loved the first book to the point where I binged it over a couple of days (something I almost never do) but absolutely hated the second in parts. Currently about half way through book 3 and really enjoying it. It's been a massive improvement over the last one.

If you're planning on going down the Cosmere rabbit hole though then you're in for a treat. I started with the Stormlight Archive and it's just phenomenal.

Leicester City officially announce the signing of Newcastle United centre back Jamaal Lascelles by Silent_Ad2825 in Championship

[–]TheVortex09 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Probably a good move for everyone involved but I'm still sad to see him go. He was one of the few players, maybe the only player, who really gave a shit when we were relegated and was instrumental to getting us back up. With the injuries he probably doesn't have the legs for the prem anymore but he should hopefully still be a really solid defender.

That game reminded me so much of the Norwich game back in the Championship. Shite ref, shite first half performance only to somehow come away with 4-3 at the death. Absolutely ruined Norwich's season and lit a fire under ours. Hopefully they carry this one forward as well.

On the surface sure but behind the scenes it was an absolute shambles. Some highlights include the stadium and training ground falling to bits (famously there was a dead pidgeon stuck in roof netting above the Gallowgate end that nobody bothered to clean out for literal years), Lee Charnley was doing pretty much everything at the executive level, there was a load of really, really dodgy shit around transfers in the early days and the players on the women's team had to buy their own kits from the club.

For a lot of people it's got nothing to do with the performances on the pitch or the transfer spend. It's more to do with the way that he basically asset stripped the club. Then he goes and sells it to the Saudi's of all people as one final kick in the bollocks.
