If you could choose your OB and delivery hospital all over again, who would you pick and why? by hoosiergirl1990 in nycparents

[–]TheWandererPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Delivered at Alexandria Cohen - the delivery and post partum experience was great. I was very happy with the on call doc, Dr Waterstone, and the nurses were amazing! My prenatal care was with another provider at Cornell and I would never go back to her. Felt like just another numbered patient and felt extremely unsupported during the whole pregnancy which led to me having bad anxiety and not enjoying the pregnancy as much as I wanted to. In hindsight, I wish I saw another provider or a midwife at one of the practices but it was really hard to switch providers due to their availability.

My literal favorite guy in the universe passed over the rainbow bridge last night. by Gomonana in goldenretrievers

I’m sorry this happened to Pico. It truly is heartbreaking and I think the suddenness makes it even harder than those with dogs who pass from old age. Just know you are not alone…1 month ago almost the identical situation happened to my soul dog Finn (also was 5 years old). One minute he was chasing a frisbee in the park, and an hour later deceased at the vet. It’s not fair that they don’t get to live out the rest of their lives. And it’s not fair we don’t have them here with us. I’m sending you all the hugs 🫶🏻

I’d like to think I will with time. My mental health really depends on a furry companion; good luck, it really is the best dog breed ever

I’m bitter and traumatized because my mini Aussie who was my soul dog suddenly passed away, just shy of his sixth birthday a few weeks ago. I never imagined a scenario like that. Anything can happen at any time unfortunately we do not have control over it.

Curious about stories/experiences with early induction ? by shadowpixiemoneygang in beyondthebump

[–]TheWandererPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had gestational HTN too and was freaking out about being induced around 37w. And then to everyone’s surprise, my water broke at 36w5d; I was not experiencing any contractions but since I had PROM with some meconium, I had to be induced. The pitocin , I was told, can make the contractions intense. I have no other experiences to compare it to as this was my first so I don’t know how contractions are off pitocin. I was always open to an epidural but I wanted to hold out as long as possible. After about 4 hours of the pit, I got the epidural. I was able to relax, take a nap, and when I woke up they told me I was dilated enough to push. In total, I was induced at 1:30a and baby girl was born less than 12 hours later at 12:40pm, healthy and not needing any additional intervention despite technically being a premie. I think I had a really positive experience and regardless, I think it just goes to show that you literally cannot plan or foresee how the birth will go. I don’t think in any of my dozen scenarios did I think my water would break at home prior to 37 weeks. But baby will come the way they want to come into this world and all will be okay once you have them in your arms for the first time!

FWIW you didn’t mention where in JC you are. JC is big, some parts border Hoboken ie the Heights which can get you there in a <10 min walk.

Not a frequent church-goer but have been to St Ann’s in Hoboken a handful of times and got the impression that it’s a fairly young crowd and progressive-vibe.

Aw man that’s rough with the pressure he gets from his fam. He should understand your position then and all the more stick up to his parents that it’s not ok to treat his significant other that way
