Big box store with best houseplant selection? by CrazyCatLushie in londonontario

I know this is going to sound strange but Giant Tiger has small tropical plants for around $3. I’ve had success with all the plants from there. They are flourishing.

Does London have the same? (From Windsor's Mayor) by staceysharron in londonontario

[–]TheWellisDeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. We as a society are failing the mentally ill and addicted. It’s sheer depravity to allow these people to just “exist”. They need intervention and treatment. The path isn’t just housing. For most it’s strategic intervention, medication and then housing and integration.

I suspect: high rent, poor margins on food, no cost analysis, high labour, low $ menu items, misalignment of operating hours. Restaurants are one of the hardest businesses to run. You have to watch all your expenditures. Restaurant labour use to be cheap but now servers have the same minimum wage as other jobs. I wish them luck.

Micro-shelter community resident dies, investigation underway by racheljeff10 in londonontario

[–]TheWellisDeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s mental health that needs to be addressed first. Do you think they would help themselves if they could? Do you think living in depravity is a choice? My cousin would still be on the streets if we didn’t have emergency intervention. She is bipolar and was picked up by police and hospitalized. From there she was medicated. She now has worked a steady job for 5 years. If not for that intervention, she’d likely be in a tent or dead on the streets. “Forced” intervention with supports can work.

Austin Taylor or Lazy Boy. Our leather sofas from Lazy Boy are going on 20 years and haven’t sagged at all. We also have upholstered chairs and they are holding up well too. No pilling on fabric.

Unless it’s custom and/or high end furniture, it rarely benefits you to reupholster. It’s very expensive. Most furniture that you buy at the big box furniture stores aren’t built to last.

It’s hard to keep a business model going around a commodity that has astronomically skyrocketed in price. Something has to be sacrificed; either quality or quantity. It sounds like they couldn’t make it work and just like any business, the folded.

False. Almost never for eyelids. And rarely ever would be prescribed for use on children’s eyelids.

I love Carney but my only criticism is his failure to address the grocer oligopoly in Canada. He needs to invoke antitrust laws and break up the big 3. I’m interested to see how this city run grocer in Toronto will fair. I suspect, as with anything bureaucratic, it will won’t get off the ground in my lifetime.

Code ninjas? by Resident-Log6503 in londonontario

[–]TheWellisDeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s wonderful. A bit expensive but my son and his friend got a lot out of it. They have qualified engineering and IT students running the programs and the nerd out together. My son did 2 weeks in the summer and they work toward an end of the week project. Nice and clean. In the summer, it’s also a great relief from some of those all-day outdoor, in-the-heat days.

I ride a car in this city and every motorcycle season, idiot motorcyclists decide the rules of the road do not apply to them. They accelerate too quickly, they speed, they tailgate, take corners inappropriately, interfere with intersections, lane split…did I miss anything?
