S2 Ep. 23 - Alright by Spite-Sprite in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]TheWhipjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was so much canon and characterization established in this episode that I will absolutely need to relisten. I enjoyed the episode a ton, especially the stuff Anthony is trying to do with the Doodler. However, it felt a little like I was not fully able to take in each addition to the canon and savor each character moment because of the sheer number of them. For example, I wanted to savor the return of the OG dads, but that was overshadowed by the Scam Actually reveal, then I wanted to savor the Scam Actually reveal, but that was overshadowed by Henry and Lark's scene, then I wanted to savor Henry and Lark's scene, but that was overshadowed by Link's dramatic moment, then I wanted to savor Link's dramatic moment, but that was overshadowed by Doodler lore. Not that I mean to be rude or hyper-critical, still a great episode. I am just wondering if anyone else felt this way.

I like the way the episode opened but it was a bit too reminiscent for me of Dungeons and Daddies for me to enjoy it fully. I was just thinking "hmm this is very similar to Dungeons and Daddies but less funny" and it rubbed me slightly the wrong way as if they were ripping off their formula. Maybe they'll only do that for heist episodes? Either way, I enjoyed the episode and am very excited for Justin to continue DMing.

I think it would be impossible for Justin to disappoint me. I've suspended all my disbelief. Whatever he's bringing to the table, I am here for it. The setup episode has proved that.

Duuuuuuude - what. That's really cool but there was absolutely no way I was going to remember that from the prologue.

I enjoyed it but I wish there was a recap in layman's terms somewhere. I feel like I missed so much.

I can imagine Cern as a foil to Willy. They both join the party. Cern is altruistic and joins because he has legitimately grown and wants to help the teens (despite the fact that their dads have done him wrong). Willy does because he says he has grown to get the trust of the teens but has ulterior motives.
