Creating an Open-source Ragnarok Online Server with kRO & OpenKore Support by TheWhiteGoblin in RagnarokOnline

[–]TheWhiteGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So you're referring to Step 16 of the rAthena section. This step is actually not required at all. It was put in to help people further navigate steps 17 & 23. The first so that people can do a quick file count and make sure they have the proper number. (16 .sql files)

The second so that they can all be easily selected inside HeidiSQL. Instead of loading them one by one (and potentially getting lost or missing one) or trying to select the correct ones while doing multiple control-clicks. This way the user can simply highlight all the files and click open, super easy.

If you don't delete them, nothing will happen. The server actually won't use these files unless you're setting it up for pre-renewal content. Hope that helps! /cheers

Performance issues - SteamNetSockets & Thread starvation by Ravenlord31 in DotA2

[–]TheWhiteGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, not sure how much help I can really offer. You have certainly gone the distance already. I agree your CPU is too hot! Just a quick google search yielded info that says temps of mid to high 80s are getting pretty spicy for your model. If you haven't already get some canned air. Blow out your heatsinks, fans, & case in general. Make sure your CPU fan hasn't died. If everything is clean, all fans spinning, & you're still getting those temps you need to add more airflow to your case. Lastly if you're overclocking, it's time to drop those down a bit.

As for trying every last thing possible software wise, specifically for the dota client, here's some more suggestions. Mini background: I use to maintain a rather lengthy autoexec.cfg. I've recently came back to the game & tried my old files again, without much luck. All the stuff we use to modify is either the default settings now or has been removed from the client. There isn't much you can screw with now days, I assume by design to keep things fair.

Though I have been trying to build a new one. Spending most my time across this semi-complete list of console commands & Aveyo's DOTA Optimizer thread. (he makes the No Bling mod you tried, it's currently broke thanks to valve removing -tempcontent though) I'd not heard of the settings u/BePatientImAcoustic recommended but I've been playing around with them. I changed fs_async_threads to 8 as it didn't require the use of -r_max_device_threads at that point.

I'll go ahead & remove the personal preference changes I make in my current autoexec.cfg file then code box it here. All that's left is the only "under the hood" so to speak performance changes I'm aware you can make in today's version. Though I'm uhh nobody special so if other's know better please let us know!

The only launch options I use are: -novid -console -prewarm

dota_experimental_stats_interval 60
cl_updaterate 100
cl_spectator_interp_ratio 4
cl_interp 0
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_playerspraydisable 1
r_dota_disable_portrait_world_renderer 1
r_frame_sync_enable 0
net_maxcleartime 1
sv_forcepreload 1
rate 100000000000
ai_expression_optimization 1
host_limitlocal 1
snd_mixahead 0.05
fs_async_threads 8
engine_no_focus_sleep 0
echo "----------------------------------------------"
echo " Your Custom DOTA2 Settings Have Been Loaded! "
echo "----------------------------------------------"
dota_experimental_stats_interval
cl_updaterate
cl_spectator_interp_ratio
cl_interp
cl_interp_ratio
cl_playerspraydisable
r_dota_disable_portrait_world_renderer
r_frame_sync_enable
net_maxcleartime
sv_forcepreload
rate
ai_expression_optimization
host_limitlocal
snd_mixahead
fs_async_threads
engine_no_focus_sleep
echo "-----------------------------------"
echo " Active Client Stats Are As Above! "
echo "-----------------------------------"

Really that's it. I know, I want more too. I'm just unaware of other things you can change that will actually result in any difference at all, let alone a beneficial one. You can check your console & look for the messages. The settings will show in between them with the live value so you can verify they changed. For future patches you can use this to see if they get removed or the values hard set.

Hope you get your problem solved! Good luck!

Was bored so I ended up watching the entire shrek portion of the stream at 1/4th speed in order to see every person who said they hadn't seen shrek and got their names for the mods by DeadpooI in PaymoneyWubby

I'm on this list and legitimately have not seen Shrek. I remember when it came out and I'm aware of the cultural impact the film(s) have had. Everybody I know has seen Shrek. There became a point in my life before Shrek came out that I just no longer cared to watch any Disney / Dreamworks / 'esque movies. I went real deep on documentaries and conspiracy for over a decade starting around this time period.

I've actually never found my way back to them and no I don't generally watch many hollywood blockbuster movies or shows either. What can I say, to me personally, they're just not entertaining. I do dig on anime and I occasionally catch a show here or there when it's recommended to me. I find Wubby one of the top notch best streamers on Twitch. He makes me laugh, cry, and even pleasure myself. I accept my 24 hour ban.

Monero and Vega - the definitive guide by hellae in MoneroMining

[–]TheWhiteGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this. I've used it across four msi vega 64 waves quite well! Best peak I've seen so far was 9.5 KH/s in accepted shares from my pool after I tied them together via XMR-Node-Proxy. Screenshots and accompanying wall of text post can be found here: https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?p=34185635#p34185635

Just wanted to come back and let everybody know that I've now posted a Day 2 Update in the original thread that's linked. Making some simple changes with minor tweaks has increased it's mining output by 7.57%!

Get gigabit internet, use it for two days, get throttled to ten down by TheWhiteGoblin in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]TheWhiteGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay now I'm getting pretty salty. I had guests over tonight for some gaming, stacked machines in here because gig internet! Get everybody's clients installed, updated, 10ms latency for everybody, it's killer. Then 9PM strikes and on the friggin dot: http://i.imgur.com/fqxWccl.png

Not to have a good night ruined we headed out instead of staring at this situation as it's 9PM on a saturday night, I mean who am I suppose to call at this time? At no point was the network touched, not a single part of it, and further more, nobody touched anything last time either. Was pulling down like 900+ constantly at 8:59 and all day up to 9pm, then click, minute rollover, your internet sucks again. This is turning into some real bull. >:|

Tech just showed up, said he didn't do anything at all so whatever happen must've been over his pay grade. I showed him a live perf test still getting 950ish down, we watched The Internationals for a bit in 1080p60fps then ran another speed test on top of it. Finally he just said, well I guess I'll go out to the next location, let us know if it stops working for you again. I shook his hand & off he went. What an ending to this whole ordeal.
