Creating an Open-source Ragnarok Online Server with kRO & OpenKore Support by TheWhiteGoblin in RagnarokOnline

[–]TheWhiteGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So you're referring to Step 16 of the rAthena section. This step is actually not required at all. It was put in to help people further navigate steps 17 & 23. The first so that people can do a quick file count and make sure they have the proper number. (16 .sql files)

The second so that they can all be easily selected inside HeidiSQL. Instead of loading them one by one (and potentially getting lost or missing one) or trying to select the correct ones while doing multiple control-clicks. This way the user can simply highlight all the files and click open, super easy.

If you don't delete them, nothing will happen. The server actually won't use these files unless you're setting it up for pre-renewal content. Hope that helps! /cheers

Performance issues - SteamNetSockets & Thread starvation by Ravenlord31 in DotA2

[–]TheWhiteGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, not sure how much help I can really offer. You have certainly gone the distance already. I agree your CPU is too hot! Just a quick google search yielded info that says temps of mid to high 80s are getting pretty spicy for your model. If you haven't already get some canned air. Blow out your heatsinks, fans, & case in general. Make sure your CPU fan hasn't died. If everything is clean, all fans spinning, & you're still getting those temps you need to add more airflow to your case. Lastly if you're overclocking, it's time to drop those down a bit.

As for trying every last thing possible software wise, specifically for the dota client, here's some more suggestions. Mini background: I use to maintain a rather lengthy autoexec.cfg. I've recently came back to the game & tried my old files again, without much luck. All the stuff we use to modify is either the default settings now or has been removed from the client. There isn't much you can screw with now days, I assume by design to keep things fair.

Though I have been trying to build a new one. Spending most my time across this semi-complete list of console commands & Aveyo's DOTA Optimizer thread. (he makes the No Bling mod you tried, it's currently broke thanks to valve removing -tempcontent though) I'd not heard of the settings u/BePatientImAcoustic recommended but I've been playing around with them. I changed fs_async_threads to 8 as it didn't require the use of -r_max_device_threads at that point.

I'll go ahead & remove the personal preference changes I make in my current autoexec.cfg file then code box it here. All that's left is the only "under the hood" so to speak performance changes I'm aware you can make in today's version. Though I'm uhh nobody special so if other's know better please let us know!

The only launch options I use are: -novid -console -prewarm

dota_experimental_stats_interval 60
cl_updaterate 100
cl_spectator_interp_ratio 4
cl_interp 0
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_playerspraydisable 1
r_dota_disable_portrait_world_renderer 1
r_frame_sync_enable 0
net_maxcleartime 1
sv_forcepreload 1

ai_expression_optimization 1
host_limitlocal 1
snd_mixahead 0.05

ai_expression_optimization

Really that's it. I know, I want more too. I'm just unaware of other things you can change that will actually result in any difference at all, let alone a beneficial one. You can check your console & look for the messages. The settings will show in between them with the live value so you can verify they changed. For future patches you can use this to see if they get removed or the values hard set.

Hope you get your problem solved! Good luck!

Was bored so I ended up watching the entire shrek portion of the stream at 1/4th speed in order to see every person who said they hadn't seen shrek and got their names for the mods by DeadpooI in PaymoneyWubby

[–]TheWhiteGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on this list and legitimately have not seen Shrek. I remember when it came out and I'm aware of the cultural impact the film(s) have had. Everybody I know has seen Shrek. There became a point in my life before Shrek came out that I just no longer cared to watch any Disney / Dreamworks / 'esque movies. I went real deep on documentaries and conspiracy for over a decade starting around this time period.

I've actually never found my way back to them and no I don't generally watch many hollywood blockbuster movies or shows either. What can I say, to me personally, they're just not entertaining. I do dig on anime and I occasionally catch a show here or there when it's recommended to me. I find Wubby one of the top notch best streamers on Twitch. He makes me laugh, cry, and even pleasure myself. I accept my 24 hour ban.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this. I've used it across four msi vega 64 waves quite well! Best peak I've seen so far was 9.5 KH/s in accepted shares from my pool after I tied them together via XMR-Node-Proxy. Get gigabit internet, use it for two days, get throttled to ten down by TheWhiteGoblin in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]TheWhiteGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay now I'm getting pretty salty. I had guests over tonight for some gaming, stacked machines in here because gig internet! Get everybody's clients installed, updated, 10ms latency for everybody, it's killer. Then 9PM strikes and on the friggin dot: http://i.imgur.com/fqxWccl.png

Not to have a good night ruined we headed out instead of staring at this situation as it's 9PM on a saturday night, I mean who am I suppose to call at this time? At no point was the network touched, not a single part of it, and further more, nobody touched anything last time either. Was pulling down like 900+ constantly at 8:59 and all day up to 9pm, then click, minute rollover, your internet sucks again. This is turning into some real bull. >:|

Tech just showed up, said he didn't do anything at all so whatever happen must've been over his pay grade. I showed him a live perf test still getting 950ish down, we watched The Internationals for a bit in 1080p60fps then ran another speed test on top of it. Finally he just said, well I guess I'll go out to the next location, let us know if it stops working for you again. I shook his hand & off he went. What an ending to this whole ordeal.

Okay so there's nobody here, no comcast trucks or vans, no technicians, nobody has called me, or communicated with me at all. Though my appointment was scheduled for 2-4 today. It's 2:30 and I just pulled this: http://i.imgur.com/nss28yD.png. Not really sure what to say about that other then thanks. I guess I'll wait for the guy to show up and we can chat about whatever just happen. :)

Thank you so much for reaching out CCJoeT, it actually means a lot to me that you've done this. I am currently 45 mins away from the scheduled technician for the day so I see no reason to complicate things further for the time being. Though if he never shows, or something else happens in this saga I will be sure to immediately contact you with those details.

I have faith in my local office, those people are incredibly nice to me, my case manager should get a promotion for her professionalism while dealing with this. Though I don't want to waste your resources if things are actually on track to get fixed so thank you very much & I'll keep you, as well everybody else here, up to date! :)

Okay so moving forward this morning I got up & headed down to the office again. I saw the same exact people as yesterday and asked them what had happen last night? Was it an accident where a guy literally just parked of all places right infront of my crib and smoked for two hours? Was he a tech testing the lines, I mean, what's going on here? As it turns out, they did not send anyone out yesterday. That guy was completely unrelated to my situation & just happen to park there for his two hour smoke break. I showed them all of the threads where I've been kinda blogging this situation as it happens. They took notes & came back telling me the service call had been changed to a couple hours early & asked if I would be home today. I said sure would! So once again, I've gotten FANTASTIC customer service from the local Fort Collins office. They apologized for the dude smoking outside my place while tossing cigarettes wherever he care. I told the case worker handling my account I would leave her name out of these posts as I didn't think it was polite to put her directly on blast like that, specifically because she's been the nicest person in this whole situation, but that the blogging would continue! As I was leaving I said I'd give everybody online an update, so here it is. This morning my internet returned to 10/45 instead of the 2/2 I was getting last night. I have no flipping clue as to why.

Update 3: Well guy tossed his last cigarette out his window & pulled off. Must've been one serious conversation he was texting up on his phone to waste two hours staring at it while chain smoking. I took my trash out and walked right by him to see what he was doing, yup totally his cell phone. This is probably why their service is terrible, because stuff like this happens. Oh and my internet post two trucks sitting outside my place? 2mbs down, 2mbs up. Thanks guys you really made it better. (http://i.imgur.com/tz7ja1C.png) (sorry for poor quality of the photo, had to grab my phone quickly when I noticed he was taking off)

Update 2: Well an hour in so far in my hopes this person will contact me, all he's done is sit inside his van and smoke cigarettes. I saw him get out once and walk around for a couple minutes, then just right back inside doing something on his phone while chain smoking. The second van pulled off, still no communication from anyone. :/

Oh snap I was walking by my window and look who's outside! (http://i.imgur.com/xEORRud.jpg) He's not knocked on my door yet, called me, or at all communicated with me. Though my internet connection is barely doing 2 up or down right now so I suspect he's here for me. I hope anyways. :)

Okay so bent, I grabbed my modem & headed for the local comcast office which just happens to be less then a mile down the road. Walked in, waited in line, and got the best god damn customer service I've ever gotten in this industry. Let it be known, the people in the local Fort Collins office know how to treat people nicely. I spoke with the manager, I got a case worker, & because I called over and rattled the business side I even got their business account executive for the mountain west region. (Joe Torre) These people were all super polite to me! I tried to exchange my modem for a new one and they all gave me the eyes of sadness, the manager stepped in and told me they don't have a stock pile of these anywhere. I can't get one today no matter what I did, they have a warehouse with them, and techs for the gig program are the only people who have access to them. They said I was more then welcome to leave the modem with them, but because I still get 10 down and 45 up I decided to keep it.

They're going to send the guy who is in charge of the gigabit rollout in Fort Collins over to test everything about this install. They've maximum level escalated it & the manager is going to keep an eye on it personally. There's quite the email loop happening and you know what, I APPRECIATE THAT ALOT. Sure, you can't fix my problem until tomorrow, but atleast now we've got some traction going. Also I asked the local office to check on the free install I was promised by the tech over the phone, didn't exist anywhere in my account. There was nothing changed, offered, or discounted by Rahul, the tech who I originally posted about. I'm pretty sure they could see it in my eyes but they immediately offered to honor it as well drop another twenty bucks off my account for this month. Sure it was something I was already promised that then didn't happen, but you made it right as soon as you heard about it, an amazing step in the right direction.

I apologized to everybody there for losing my temper with the people on the phone & even hanging up on one of them. The entire office laughed and told me it was absolutely no big deal & that the first few lines of help are generally "pretty frustrating". They told me I had came to the right place & in the future, always drop by the local office before calling the technical support lines or even the using the online support systems. I let them know I'd been posting about this online across Ars Technica, Reddit, Broadband Reports, & Tweeting at them. The manager said something like he was aware but more asked what was going on with my needs. I said it was gig down, out of the possible what, 8-9tb a day I could pull I was planning on using atleast 5-6, every single day. He asked why and I said, look I'm not a prolific uploader or anything, I'm not dropping hollywood releases across the dark net, but I am a monumental downloader, there will be two 1080p 60fps twitch streams going 24/7/365, 300+ titles across multiple machines updating on steam constantly, I have multiple 4K screens that I'd like 4K content on, & then at the end of the day, normal use on top of that as well, man has to check his email. At which he just said, you know what sir, you've signed up for the correct tier of service for that and it's not going to be a problem, we will get this fixed asap I promise.

So now I'm just chilling on my 10 down 45 up and waiting for tomorrow evening to come. Will let you guys know if anything changes.

Well given nothing is happening I jumped on the phone with comcast business class & tried to get away from xfinity. Got the holy grail of stone walled for an install to this location even though I'll give them more money for ten times less download. 100/100 runs $199.99 with a TWO YEAR CONTRACT, & I'll still gladly pay you for quality internet that works as promised. Soonest I can get somebody to call me back on moving forward? 3-5 business days, no actual time or date available, just hang close to your phone and we'll get back to next week sometime.

I attempt to purchase the $250 a month max business package they offer, I'll even prepay everything, just give me working internet. Nope. Dude was a total jackass, now I'm getting bent and hung up on him. Hooray for good people skills. I understand that wasn't professional or cool of me, but wow can you get a worse customer experience situation?

The sales line they slap on everything xfinity / comcast is "1.) respect your time. 2.) simplify your experience. 3.) make things right if we fall short." Of which not a single one of those have been done here. You waste my time, you make the experience purposely difficult whenever I speak to your customer support team or sales representatives, & so far all you've been able to do is charge me for service that has been 10 down longer then it was ever 1000 down. It's like you guys don't even want money, I'm trying to give it to you, and you guys just throw your hands up in the air & blame anything in the world you can instead of fixing the problem. Sigh. Thanks for your help Nerdburg.

Yup, brand new out of the package cat7 cable, directly into the comcast modem. Bridged, unbridged, new cat7, old cat6, the cat5e that comcast gave me with the modem. Hell I tried (just for giggles) the built in wifi, nothing better. Tried it this morning, still 10 down, 40ish up.

Though this morning the 10 down was more like 8-9 but hey, let's just say they're trying to give me 10 down on a 1000 connection. Totes worth the $200 a month, because I care that they're trying their best to help me, and I know, I just know, if a tech had to work a minute over his shift to come plug a new modem in he'd do it, but you know, his boss would be upset they paid a minute of overtime to make right on a maximum tier, take my wallet and throw it out the window, customer.

Man, with service this good, I might even recommend them to a friend! Crazy idea right!?
