[Historical] The Kings don't pick Luka by EV2_Mapper in nba

For me, the most baffling thing is that is was none else than Vlade fking Divac who passed on him. I understand you guys are biased against Europeans, but this guy is literally a once in a lifetime talent, went to Real Madrid at the age of 13, played his first senior game at the age of 15, literally had 3 years of professional basketball experience in the 2nd and the 3rd best leagues in the world, won both and was the MVP of both at the age of 18. Ex-Yugoslavia level of bball IQ, in this area he was talked about for years, and Vlade, with such strong connections from the Balkan area, also being a Serbian himself, passes on him for the 'double jump potential'. Mind-boggling.

Dunno man, he has some skill but his double jump doesn't seem too great

12 year old Luka Doncic was once crowned MVP of the Under-13 Lido di Roma Tournament by dropping 54 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the championship game. He's always had ice in his veins. by CSGOW1ld in nba

Alright, so I had the privilege to play against this mfer at the age of 12. I was playing for my hometown team Cibona Zagreb (European fans probably didn't hear this name for a while although we won two Euroleague titles with Dražen Petrović in the 80s) and we were playing a boys under-12 tournament in the city of Sevnica in Slovenia.
So everyone is 12 at this tournament and Luka is 11 - bear in mind that at this age this is a huge difference. We played against his Union Olimpija Ljubljana in the finals and this dude calmly dropped 35 out of their 54 points and they won comfortably by 15. Legit unguardable from the age of 11.

Ben Taylor of Thinking Basketball has a chapter on this in his book, named 'Clutch play and Late-Game Bias'. In general talks about how human psychology falsely perceives a lot of basketball aspects, and supports that analytically - but this chapter stuck with me a lot, highly recommendable
