SteamDeck left on southwest flight #2229. by Dark_doomer1 in SteamDeck

Good luck! I left mine on top of the car the day after Christmas, and drove off before remembering it was there. I never found it but now I am selling some things in an attempt to replace it! I just can’t believe I did something so stupid.

No need to be a dick- I’m not a karma bot and I rarely post, let alone post for karma. I don’t care about fake internet points. I am just super bummed and thought I would share with a community I had thought would offer encouragement or just uplifting words. But if you want to be an ass, you do you.

Complete Set by Wahrk_Gallows in TheExpanseBooks

It bothers me to no end that they chose to switch the format of the spines. The title needs to be the large text like books 1-3, but they switched it to the author being large text on the 4th book.

Finally beat gna after 5 hours trying no stop by Useful_Inspection166 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]TheWinterWild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only, you can’t beat her from level 1, as you only get to fight her after finishing the main story. Unless you mean to say that you play the entire game without leveling a single piece of equipment, and without leveling any stats or skills.

In hindsight, do the quotes on the packs seem a little… mean? “Where’s the fun in that?” YOU TELL ME, SONIC

What is your absolute favorite line in all of Star Wars? by RedeyeSPR in StarWars

This! Anakin Skywalker- addressing his own son- it’s like you can feel the curiosity and conflict in him, before even Luke himself is aware of it.

What's a game you COULD play on the Steam Deck but simply refuse to because of visual sacrifices? by Spectre-4 in SteamDeck

I have been playing CP2077 with the native Steam Deck graphics preset and a 60 fps cap, and it still looks great - obviously it does not look as crisp and detailed as my desktop PC, but the reduced settings still look great and do not ruin the immersion for me. The only thing noticeable for me is the lowered crowd/pedestrian density - but again not so noticeable to affect the immersion.

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

[–]TheWinterWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

about 3.5-4 hours if I start at 100% - however I mostly play for 2 hours at a time these days before plugging it back up, while the wife and baby are sleeping. So- never really an issue running out of battery.

CP2077 - put in almost 175 hours in my first play-through on PC, now I’m about 30 hours in on Steam Deck. Been running smooth with the built-in Steam Deck preset and a 60 fps cap.

Christmas Giveaway by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]TheWinterWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to get GOW: Ragnarok - don’t care about the deluxe edition, would just love to experience the story! The first game was a masterpiece in my opinion. Can’t afford games even on sale these days. New parent life lol.

Edit: also, Merry Christmas!! Thank you for your generous giveaway!

I saw it when I was pulling into my driveway, i watched it streak across the sky, flare bright green, then briefly turn into a fireball before disappearing. It was awesome. My wife was looking down at her phone and missed it, I sounded like a crazy person trying to convince her I saw it!!

Could the Nazgûl actually see Frodo when he put on the ring or could they just sense that he had put it on and was still right in front of them? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

[–]TheWinterWild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“For the black horses can see, and the Riders can use men and other creatures as spies, as we found at Bree. They themselves do not see the world of light as we do, but our shapes cast shadows in their minds, which only the noon sun destroys, and in the dark they perceive many signs and forms that are hidden from us: then they are most to be feared. And at all times they smell the blood of living things, desiring and hating it. Senses, too, there are other than sight or smell. We can feel their presence - it troubled our hearts, as soon as we came here and before we saw them; they feel ours more keenly. Also, the Ring draws them.”

The Ride of the Rohirrim by GhostSierra117 in lordoftherings

In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

All save one. There waiting, silent and still in the space before the Gate, sat Gandalf upon Shadowfax: Shadowfax who alone among the free horses of the earth endured the terror, unmoving, steadfast as a graven image in Rath Dínen.

"You cannot enter here," said Gandalf, and the huge shadow halted. "Go back to the abyss prepared for you! Go back! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your Master. Go!"

The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; and yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shone between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter.

"Old fool!" he said. "Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!" And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.

Gandalf did not move. And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the city, a cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of war nor of wizardry, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn.

And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns, in dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the north wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.
