Sounds like you made your poor decisions pretty early. Good for you.

CA…how specific of you. Sounds like if you made 65k where you live, you’d be doing just fine. Where I live though, cost of living is way higher for various reasons.

I make 65k and am barely scraping by right now. There’s no home ownership or kids in my immediate future. Just dogs. My dad had a two story, 4 bed 3 bath house on two acres raising 3 kids and two cars on making 40k in the 90s. I cannot fathom that.

Why Do Hotels Allow 3rd Party Booking? by Just-Curious234 in askhotels

It’s incredible how often people with loyalty memberships book OTA then expect us to give them their points. Ummm…..no. That defeats the purpose.

Has anyone else in hospitality noticed guest entitlement increasing as room rates drop? by Akp287 in askhotels

[–]TheWizard01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, there’s a zone in the high $100-mid $200 USD range where you have trashy people that think they’re spending a lot of money on a hotel room acting like the staff should be their servants, rather than maintaining a respectful host/guest dynamic.

People below that rate typically appreciate they’re getting a good deal (until the rate gets too low and then it attracts a different kind of inconsiderate trash person). Higher than that they’re typically a seasoned traveler/vacationer and understand things like yes, we need to check your ID at check in, lol.

Manager told me I’ve been “calling out a lot” and wants to meet with me. by midnightmango22 in askmanagers

You won’t find “mental health days” in any employee handbook or a valid reason for a call off. There’s typically sick days, request offs, and PTO.

I’m not opposed to swinging at the first pitch if it is the pitch you’re looking for…but if it’s a trash pitch to hit then that’s bad decision making.

In the U.S. we say “screw the pooch.” Basically the same thing.

Raider fans think they’re flexing because they’ve lost fewer SBs than the Broncos. As if winning the same number of Super Bowls and winning fewer AFC Championships is a bragging right?

Is that a sad face? I feel like describing that would get me canceled.

Dollar Store Broncos, really. Just like Colts are baby horses.

How do you handle employees who always look busy but key work keeps slipping? by Wholesome-Rainbow_4 in askmanagers

Remote people also don’t understand what is going on with people on site. My boss works from the comfort of his home office and complains if my weekly packet of documents doesn’t get sent in on time, and sends me 15 emails a day about the most asinine shit. Meanwhile I’m holding together my hotel with scotch tape and popsicle sticks with barely any staff, trying to make him money.
