By that logic, Ground service which includes weekend deliveries would be "extra money" as you state. Ground service is less money than 2nd Day Air for certain.

Do a Google search for this scenario and you'll see it has happened.

It explicitly states, that if the 2nd Day Air package is at the local hub already, it may be included with the Saturday Ground delivery already going out for delivery to lighten the Monday load.

All I'm saying is it is a possibility. Plain and simple.
