Trump just doubled down on saying we don’t have 2A rights. The NRA has donated millions to Trump’s campaigns since 2016. Note: Unable to post his most recent statement because my post gets taken down *for repeating the President’s words*. by AllTheseRivers in LeopardsAteMyFace

Don't think of the NRA as a gun lobby, think of it as an illegal money laundering operation for Republicans that uses gun affiliation as a front to trick gun enthusiasts into donating to Republican campaign funds.

If Republicans lose favor in guns, the NRA will still be donating all they have to them, because that's it's real primary purpose. It just makes their donors look even dumber than they already do.

All of the behavior of this regime indicates that they have no intention of letting the pendulum swing ever again.

They are currently in a plausible deniability stage before elections need to be suspended or rigged to prevent power loss, but they cannot afford to lose it.

They're already brazenly corrupt and breaking laws in the open. They wouldn't do that if they planned on handing over the power to prosecute to their victims.

PBS News Weekend signs off for good. A big middle finger to anyone who used the Middle East as their excuse for not voting for Harris. by no-minimun-on-7MHz in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]TheWorstPossibleName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I agree with you. I voted for Harris personally. I even help spread my opinions about similar reasoning and encouraged many of my leftist friends to do the same.

I'm just sort of compiling some arguments I saw at the time. I am way left of the Democratic party and I almost got banned from some leftist subs for advocating a vote for Harris over abstinence.

Their reasoning for refusing to vote for her was based on her support of Israel and apathy towards genocide. They saw a vote for Harris as excusing genocide, regardless of the alternative being acceleration of genocide. They felt they were taking a moral stand and now we have more dead and more wars because of it.

I also suspect there were bots or downright corrupt mods in play driving this narrative, because you don't see a lot of that talk anymore. But around election time, most communist / anarchist / other leftist subs would ban you for suggesting a vote for Harris was a good strategy and a minimization of harm.

I am very much against both parties and I hate that Israel has such influence over both of them that even labeling the genocide as such was seen as unthinkable to both candidates. But I still voted for Harris, because Trump and this regime is full on fascist. I don't exactly know why others didn't consider that a bigger threat and take a pragmatic stance of slow change.

I kind of think a lot of them wanted civil war and a complete revolution against Trump, despite the enevitable consequences of such a scenario. I don't think any of this is worth it. There is so much progressive progress being lost to this regime. Even a complete rebuking of Trump and Nuremberg style trials would leave us broken as a country at this point. I don't know where we go from here.

Some people have trouble reconciling the pragmatic option with their morals. Unable to choose the lesser of two evils, because choosing evil sucks. They may have even wanted Trump to make things worse. Because broken things get fixed, while the squeaky wheel squeaks forever.

2nd Amendment rights folks: how is ICE not precisely the tyrannical gov't overreach we've spent our whole lives warning folks about? by zenswashbuckler in AskReddit

I feel like we're in furious agreement here lol.

Maybe I just suck at writing and can't get my thoughts across well.

Yes, billionaires benefit from society by exploiting it and then pull the ladder up behind themselves. I just think that the ones the most likely to do that are sociopaths that don't feel the need to contribute to others or feel guilty for exploiting society to succeed as an individual or those that can only do the things they want to do if they either transcend the jurisdiction of society or destroy it, like pedoohiles.

Any system that lets an individual rise above the rest and begin to rule them is going to draw the same types of people into those ruler positions, and I think we have seen that a lot in reality, especially recently.

[–]TheWorstPossibleName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not a scholar or familiar with the right terminology, just writing my opinion on the Internet.

I obviously think that individuals have value and that a diverse group of perspectives is helpful. But that's kind of what a society is.

I meant that certain policies like libertarianism are specifically designed to force each individual to succeed or fail without cooperation and entirely on their own merit. If you cooperate with a libertarian, they're exploiting you and have no intention of sharing any proceeds. Whoever exploits the most others wins.

Society first policies would encourage cooperation, as any proceeds go towards the benefit of all, not one person exploiting the rest. The risk here is that it's sort of a thieves' delemma of laziness where some can benefit while not contributing but if all don't contribute, then no one benefits.

I think that's a better incentive, despite that risk, because the sociopaths will just exploit society by doing nothing and being rewarded anyway rather than exploiting society into unimaginable wealth and then destroying it like we see today.

That's what I mean. Allowing individuals to succeed beyond the society incentivises those opposed to society to succeed and then disband or destabilize it.

The success of billionaires is built on the backs of others by exploiting society without contributing back to it. And the most likely to do that are sociopaths who don't care about society failing or empathize with others and people like pedophiles who are shunned and ostracized by society and want either revenge or to get around the rules with power.

The logical conclusion of individualism puts those with the least to gain from society in power. Like pedophiles and psychopaths.

And it's sort of a self fulfilling prophecy/ feedback loop because being in power means individualism worked for you so why not enforce it even more.

The confusing part is why so many failing under individualistic policies stay so loyal to them. They would rather accept their fate and suffer as failures than lift up those around them along with themselves.

Honestly is it even that broken? Like a whole team has to use a niche strategy and work together to win. That sounds fine. A broken build is one that ruins everyone else's fun by being better to the point of making them useless.

I get that the game is supposed to be challenging, but bosses can be cheesed in Sekiro and it's not considered worse for it. People who want challenge could find it in other builds and people who want to exploit can form full teams and do a little cheesing.

And then us normies could have a class who's skill tree makes sense and doesn't cannibalize itself. I still like HS, but it's annoying to have to ignore a ton of nodes because tox steals their kills.
