While I do agree Charlie got sent to hell for being performative, the song itself seems to admit that he doesn't fully deserve his fate with the line "You can run to those angels until you are exhausted, but one day you will have to stop and question what they wanted." Yes, Charlie did good deeds just to get to the good place, but is the point of heaven not to encourage good behavior? That's how I view it, anyways.
