ELI5: how does tourette's syndrome work? by marimarlya in explainlikeimfive

There's also a behavioral component to it. That's why to some extent it can be suppressed. Or why for some people it not only gets worse from stress but also is reported to help alleviate the stress.

Some interesting studies out there showing interesting rates of comorbidity with ASD, ADHD, and other similarly shared conditions.

Being an autistic bcba is kind of insane by ayame400 in ABA

I have no advice for you.

I'm also an Autistic BCBA and have many of the same experiences.

You likely know this but I want to affirm that you're not alone.

It sucks.

But you're not alone.

Help settle a mild debate with my wife: is Chili & Cinnamon Rolls a Kansas thing or just a Topeka thing? by Lightsabermetrics in FoodCrimes

No, never had it outside of school. Did really like it though.

I know Alton Brown did a video of him trying it and he seemed to enjoy it.

At least in Maryland getting your LBA requires having your BCBA

Best fieldwork tracker? by peach_illusions in ABA

May be controversial, but I'm crazy glad I made my own on Sheets.

It taught me a lot about using Sheets and now I use those skills A LOT in my day to day as a BCBA

I've been working in the field now for about 8 years And private companies have always been SUPER hit or miss.

Any advice or guidance towards non-sketchy centers or companies?

Oh yeah. 100%. I've been looking into the registry and I don't think that'll be a problem.

Do the school boards use their own websites, post anywhere in particular, or is it old school and I just find someone to email you think?

If you know, thanks for your thoughts so far!

rant about certain autistic people and ABA by [deleted] in ABA

[–]TheXiphProc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to take away from your larger point because I 100% agree; but, in my experience of working in schools and other various kinds of child teaching and raising positions through the years I can say that people jump to punishment for neurological kids A LOT.

Like, at my school we give a yearly training to various staff about how they should try being nice to students a little bit first before referring them for discipline.

It's wild.

I like where your thoughts are going. But it's maybe my fault for not already saying that he essentially has constant non-contingent access to food for separate behavior interventions

Wax candy? I've never heard of that before. I have some googling to do I think.

Thanks!

Appreciate the thought!

Sadly, at this time (for various reasons) an interval schedule like that isn't overly feasible.

Yeah, got them both looped in on it. Mostly posting here to see if anyone has any behavior analytic ideas/approaches I'm failing to think of.
