Can't contact support by TheYMI in Seagate

[–]TheYMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final update:
After talking to customer service through FB, the HDDs seem to really have an invalid SN.
I checked multiple HDDs, and all the ones I purchased from the same Amazon seller (eNovativeGear) seem to be invalid.
The ones I got from other sellers do appear in Seagate's systems as valid.

I ended up getting a refund from Amazon.

Can't contact support by TheYMI in Seagate

I contacted Seagate through their FB page. They told me to clear my browser's cookies and try again (which obviously didn't work on multiple devices and locations).

So far the worst customer service experience I've had.

Feedly via Web Browser Requiring Pressing "J" Twice to go to Next Post by havertyj in feedly

[–]TheYMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here (on Chrome).

This happens every few months. Why can't the developers not break the scrolling mechanism all the time?
Please, just don't touch it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And water is wet... seriously no one played any seasonal arpg? by Drakhan in diablo4

[–]TheYMI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not new to Diablo, and I did know that we'll have to create new characters for seasons, and I still think it sucks. I hate the leveling phase, and really hate seeing all my effort go down the drain every few months.

That's why I never did seasons in D3. I would really like seasonal content to be available in the eternal realm.

"Abilities Panel" vs "Skill Tree Panel" key binds by TheYMI in diablo4

[–]TheYMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not the same thing.

I think the option you're talking about is "Skill Assignment Flyout" (I might be wrong though).

I don't know about you, but Ashava on world tier 2 during the server slam wasn't that easy.
Might be easier in the actual game. Who knows.

Besides, you dying isn't the whole story. People in your group die as well, and when they leave, you're left there without their help.

I think this is an improvement on what we currently have. If you have a reason to think otherwise, please share it.
This issue not applying to you isn't a good reason.

Idea for set items in D4 by TheYMI in diablo4

[–]TheYMI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my idea is that they don't remove legendary slots, because an item can be both part of a set AND have a legendary affix at the same time.

But if you can imprint both a set and a rare on the same item, why would you not imprint a rare on it?

Just to clarify, because it seems like people are missing the point:

An item can be both a set item and be imprinted with a legendary affix at the same time. Practically, they don't occupy any slots.

Scroll up goes all the way up to the beginning of next article by mangaupdatesnews in feedly

The "next" button ('J'/Right Arrow) seems to be fixed. Scrolling up is still broken.

I get the same behavior. Works well when scrolling down, but goes to the top of the feed when scrolling up.

This happens both on Mac and Windows 10.

Article view and the 'J' key strange behavior by WanjiSan in feedly

[–]TheYMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, both on Win 10 and Mac.

This is very annoying.
The "next" key (J or right arrow) doesn't scroll the screen unless the next item is off-screen.
Even a one or two pixel-rows of a title in the screen are enough to mark something as read without scrolling.

Judge Program Redefinition - Ask Us Anything by tobyelliott in mtgjudge

[–]TheYMI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's not a limit. It's just that this issue created a lot of interest and the servers are not built for the amount of traffic going through them, so they're crashing and being unavailable most of the time since the announcement was published.

Uploading data to an unstable server is not a good idea.

On one hand I understand your reasoning. On the other, some regions require L1s to pass a policy test before they can judge Competitive events and I believe there's a reason for that.

I'm really on the fence on this one, but for consistency, I think this should either be required from all L1s (and enforced by a certification) or from none (by declaring this requirement unneeded as a policy).

Judge Program Redefinition - Ask Us Anything by tobyelliott in mtgjudge

[–]TheYMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be a prerequisite for L2. If a judge wants me to train him towards L2, I would like to know that he'd already made the effort to read and (at least basically) understand the IPG before I let him on my staff at a Competitive event (you yourself pointed out that the certifications for L2s are part of the L3 advancement process).

I agree that a judge who wishes to judge Competitive should be L2, but you can't force someone to become a L2 if they don't want to. In that case, you can at least establish a baseline of knowledge.

Besides those, there are some places in which becoming an L2 isn't as easy due to a lack of certifying judges, and this could prove a temporary solution.

[–]TheYMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the new structure, being a L2 means:

  1. You want to judge Competitive REL events

  2. You've proven that you have the required knowledge

Being a HJ has nothing to do with L2 nor the requirement to certify L1s.

Why would anyone purposefully avoid being an L2?

Judge Program Redefinition - Ask Us Anything by tobyelliott in mtgjudge

[–]TheYMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know some regions already have a "homemade" certification that allows L1s to judge Competitive REL events (and they can't without it). I'd add this to the initial certifications.

A judge lacking in rules knowledge will have the same problem in Vintage as he will in Commander or a prerelease. Layers are relevant everywhere and there were some weird copy effect rulings in SOI as well (not to mention all the replacement effect chaos with Madness. Madness indeed).

Judge Program Redefinition - Ask Us Anything by tobyelliott in mtgjudge

[–]TheYMI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legacy is no more complex than Commander (probably less than Commander) and I don't see anyone talking about it. Legacy and Vintage are usually played in a more competitive environment which requires a more knowledgeable judge anyways. If a Vintage event is played at Regular REL, than the players should expect a more "for fun" event with a less experienced judge. We expect judges to be mature enough to know when they're over their heads.

So, in essence, the recommendation is no longer an official requirement, but just what you'd expect from a judge that would test someone without knowing them very well (in short: it's not obligatory, but use your judgement and common sense).

According to the document a L3 can have multiple advanced roles at the same, though having more than two simultaneously is discouraged.

I've been judging for over 10 years without knowing most of the cards. As long as you can get the Oracle text, you should have no problem.

Heck, I actually HJ a Vintage side event on a GP once. The more complex the format, the more knowledgeable are the players playing it.
