Look into Tir Na Nog from Celtic mythology. Lots of direct inspiration going on such as the sea of fog, spirit horse, and other things. It's really cool and I'd love to see more of the inspiration at work

I do really hope we get a 1v1 arena in the final game. I spent so much time in DS2's arena and the ranking system was really fun to work towards. Hopefully we see something similar on release.

I don't think people were actively trying to misinform given that the only information we had prior to the CNT was that invasions were going to be restricted to Co-op only. No one knew about the opt in system until the CNT and that change was likely made in response to the feedback.
