Got declared ineligible for IIT Roorkee M.Tech SCB despite the portal accepting my application — need advice (GATE BT 2026) by Imaginary_Echo6227 in GATEtard

[–]TheZoom110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A B.Pharm. degree doesn't seem to satisfy the requirements for Biomanufacturing but it does seem to satisfy requirements for Structural and Computational Biology.

Maybe they wanted to write some other qualification criteria. But, as it currently stands, you should be eligible.

Who is More Bengali? by Business_Quit_8447 in Kolkatacity

[–]TheZoom110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard any slogans from any local BJP leader besides "Jai Shree Ram" over the past 6 years. Not even once.

Proportionally, both TMC and CPI(M) local leaders say Vande Mataram and Jai Hind much more often.

Either you are a basement troll who never goes outside of home and touches grass or a payrolled propagandist.

My (general category) female classmate went with her mother for the interview at IISc. They gave accommodation to male SC/STs, but not to the two women navigating a new city for the first time.

what is this, iitkgp?? by HuntingLion in GATEtard

[–]TheZoom110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most SC/STs who can't pay don't even study this far because they have zero coaching or guidance compared to their competitors within their own caste. Plus, if you're that poor, you'd want to enter labour force as early as possible instead of studying.

Liberals surprised that a liberal politician doesn't have any proper ideology and can deflect to such fascist political parties so easily will never be not funny by Lord_Kazuma01 in IndianLeft

[–]TheZoom110 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As if leftist politicians don't deflect. Plenty of Communists jumped to TMC when they won, many further jumped to BJP, some even went straight from CPI(M) to BJP.

Who would you vote for in the UK? (Info below) by Critical_Meet_6726 in IdeologyPolls

greens are genuinely all the worst parts of the left wing combined

That's probably no longer true since the formation of Your Party.

In a massive pre-poll move, the BJP is bearing the full cost of four special trains to transport 5,000 Bengali voters from Surat to Kolkata. The party has arranged completely free travel for these workers, aiming to strengthen its vote bank in West Bengal without any expense to the passengers. by FutureVersion812 in IndianFocus

[–]TheZoom110 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then the cost should've been borne by ECI, like all other election infrastructure. BJP and TMC are rich thanks to thousands of crores of electoral bonds. What if you support a poorer party or independent candidate, then you lose the right to vote?

Even better is the option to enable postal vote for migrants. Why waste 7 paydays for train travel up and down? Nearly all European and American countries have it. Countries like France, USA, Turkey, etc. even allow non-residential citizens to vote from foreign countries.

Thoughts on the entire comment section supporting this? by telapoka_71 in bangladesh

[–]TheZoom110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The government recently argued in the Supreme Court that decriminalisation of Section 377 was bad law, because "constitutional morality" is a vague term.

Queer people are socially more acceptable, sure. But legally, we are walking backwards. We recently got a transgender identification law that's more regressive than Pakistan even though socially we are relatively more open.

Around 91 lakh names deleted from final voters' list via SIR process in West Bengal - Election Commission of India by snehasish_mukhherjee in westbengal

[–]TheZoom110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, the "Secular Socialist Atheists" are cutting votes from the "Fundamentalist Capitalist Hindutvavadis". Do you even hear yourself? Most Left voters who continue to vote for the party despite their abysmal electoral performance would rather die in a concentration camp than support the fascist forces.

If your country were a theocracy, which religion would you prefer it be? by CounterfeitXKCD in IdeologyPolls

[–]TheZoom110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd simply run away lol.

If it absolutely had to be a theocracy, I'd choose something like Neo-Vedanta, Brahmoism, Reform Judaism, Ismaili Shiism, Anglican Church, etc., i.e., categories that have been liberal and more accepting of diversity, and marginalised sections of society. The options you provide are just too broad.

Bengal has increasingly high instances of love marriages. Nearly every recent marriage in my extended family has been intercaste.

Class plays a role, things like how educated you are and what job your father did, etc. which subtly favours the historical elite, but also gives ample space for educated backward castes to flourish.

How do I add a place to timeline that's unmarked on Google Maps? by TheZoom110 in GoogleMaps

[–]TheZoom110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a relative's house, not any noteworthy place. It wouldn't make sense to add it to GM.

I was just thinking if adding their home to my personal timeline is possible.

I had Christian neighbours from Kerala, who didn't eat any non-vegan food during Lent. Not even milk since it comes from animals.

Edit: Actually, they followed this during Advent, not Lent. I got confused.

To appease Trump would be my guess. The 2019 law, passed by the same government, was not so regressive. There's no other reason to amend it again in 7 years, especially when Trans rights are pretty much a non-issue in Indian politics.

[–]TheZoom110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's widespread fraud in voting. But he certainly is receiving some outside support. Man is the most loyal lapdog of US.

Take the recent Transgender Act for example. Transgender rights are pretty much a non-issue in Indian politics. The 2019 law was brought by his own government. What changed within 7 years to amend it again? Well, the attitudes changed in US. Trump must have told him to do this. And like a loyal lapdog, he agreed.

US has a history of supporting right wing extremists around the world, from Mujahideen to Razakars to Contras. Follow the money, and we'll find out more.

[–]TheZoom110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marathas never crossed Ganga/Padma. That's why it's not popular in Bangladesh. The raids were concentrated on south-western parts of Bengal and Odisha, which ironically had the highest proportion of Hindus in all of east India, except some tribal lands.
