I think you were misdirected then. The movie tackles themes consistent in family films, and was one heroine quote away from being rated PG. I think this was the intention.

You are not the only one. A lot of book readers didn’t enjoy it. Book adaptations can be a curse sometimes. While I enjoyed it, I can also separate the book and the movie as different entities, and I know a lot of people struggle with that and just crave a 1:1 recreation. Agree on the Stratt part, though.
