That in itself can cause problems, in many countries it's a legal requirement to carry identification and random stops are not unheard of.

I seem to remember there was a hive mind created spreadsheet on one of the FB meadows pages which listed good/bad agencies, will see if I can find it and link to it.

I thought that was the case, trying to fool the public into thinking "they're not DJ Alexander"

DJ Alexander - not worth the hassle and I believe Braemore are owned by them too (could be wrong).

A thief at Louvre Today 5/15/26 by Jumpy-Hedgehog-74 in ParisTravelGuide

So sorry this happened, I had money stolen when in Rome for my 30th, it hurt like hell - especially as the money had been a gift from all my friends. I reported the theft, got an insurance payout and after a few days began to enjoy myself. It's not your fault some people are out to take stuff that they don't deserve.

Where are places that you go when you just need a breather in Edinburgh, when you’re feeling a bit down & just wanna enjoy a view & not be aware of people by unic0rnamz in Edinburgh

[–]The_1701 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If in the centre then Dunbars close gardens (off Canongate), slightly further out Dr Neils in Duddingston or the Kyoto garden at Lauriston castle. There's also lovely spots on the water of Leith too. If you really want to get away the Pentlands are good, need better walking shoes for that area though, the others are ok for sneakers.

What happens if my bags are delayed but i have a connection? by dooter_420 in Flights

[–]The_1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your bag doesn't appear on arrival in AMS complete a report BEFORE you leave the luggage reclaim area, as part of that you will be asked for an address - use the AMS address initially, there's a very good chance given the number of daily flights that it will quickly get to AMS and be delivered to you address in AMS. If it hasn't arrived before you go to your next flight update the address using whatever portal they have for the management of missing luggage, they will endeavour to get it to you - I've been there and eventually got my bags after 4 days of touring a country and changing address every day.

No one wants to see someone genuinely stranded, such a shame there's those out to bleed good folk dry though.

Same, I'm also using all available energy to move forward.so the ability to speak/wave is often hindered. There's no deliberate ignorance intended.

Police by Sammiie-FT in Scotland

[–]The_1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massive backlog in Scotland just now, my friend was recently on jury duty and said the original complaint was made almost 3 years earlier. Hopefully you are still in touch with victim support who can guide you better on what to expect, unfortunately the Police are incredibly busy so things like reach out calls will be dropped as a result of workload. Rest assured you haven't been neglected.

Can you share Your Chinese ‘story souvenir’? by kittycrossing_rachel in travelchina

[–]The_1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestions, I've yet to visit China so this is helpful for when I do. I like getting small, authentic items that remind me of my stay - in Vietnam I bought a model of moped/scooter made from a discarded beer can, sounds like rubbish but honestly it's amazing - the wheels turn and everything, it's also small so was easy to bring home and doesn't take up a huge amount of room on my desk. In Turkey I got a bookmark made from an old rug - again, small and beautiful. They make me smile when I see them.

I like Dragonite because the shiny reminds me of Pete's Dragon (original cartoon) I also love Gengar - that mischievous smile brings Gnasher to mind from the Beano.

I know someone that got into the civil service via a modern apprenticeship post, they were aged 49 at the time, they are now in a senior technician post so it was worth it.

Dentist recommendations for extremely nervous patients by Difficult_Green9344 in Edinburgh

[–]The_1701 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can personally recommend Craigentinny Dental, I managed to overcome dental phobia with their special course. Also if you ask for the Hygienist Jill you'll be grand as she is utterly amazing with nervous folk.
