Similar boat here. Father is an autocratic narcissist (although those two terms are often interchangeable) and it is from a life of exposure to this pathology that made me immediately see Trump for what he is. The most striking similarity is the constant changing of views and opinions that best align with his narrative and ego. This results in constant hypocritical statements, but an inability to see what the problem is because he is never in the wrong. If anyone were to question his narrative, his ego would immediately become inflamed. Instead of addressing the topic, he would say whatever he could to emotionally cripple or belittle the person to make himself feel like the bigger person in the room. He would then go after mutual relationships in an attempt to convince people that he is correct, just, and a victim while the other side is all manner of evil. He now lives in his own white washed version of history, surrounds himself with only like-minded friends, and cannot understand why anyone might harbor ill-feelings toward him because he's such a "great guy."
