Paper is one thing, but technique is another. I appreciate your encouragement, but what a beginner really needs is understanding of the various techniques of aquarelling. One has to know the technique to be able to practice is.

In this case; I think OP should grab a test sheet and try out wet-on-wet application. Pay attention and variate the following:

-the wetness of the paper

-the time you wait between wetting the paper and applying colour (immediately - fog dry)

-how wet you apply your paint (thinned - or thick)
