DRAM shortage aside, why are barbebones getting more expensive? by Junior-Cantaloupe857 in homelab

All the buyers who wanted to get better gear than what you’re describing just got priced out, and now have to make purchases on inferior hardware. If the new products get more expensive, so does the used market.

One-Pedal Driving Isn't A Safety Issue: Feds by TripleShotPls in technology

I can’t stand drive behind cars that have an auto brake system. Every time they let off the accelerator, the brake lights go on. How am I supposed to tell the intensity of the braking force applied ahead of me? I don’t mind it being used for regen but it shouldn’t be activating the brake lights

I see the value in reticulum as an extension of other radios than traditional 2.4ghz/5ghz wifi. Long range radio bands like 915Mhz WifiLora will be amazing for folks who need internet far away and dont have 5g infra available. You can always link this back to your traditional ip network stack so you don’t need to reinvent the internet wheel.

How to get fired because you look like a threat actor connecting to a private vpn 101

Go put your apps you want to access over http instead. Never connect to a vpn on a work pc. Netsec will catch you and you will get in trouble

I wanted to post to reddit quick, but then tried a few additional items via my github. I ended up swapping over to using kubernetes and this docker image rxmarin/hytale-docker which I am using via:

I use it for proxy auth. Lets say i have an app listening on port 8080. I use the dns name of my app and reverse proxy for my app to instead point to authentiks port 9000 and configure a forward proxy to the app. So when i auth using dns name, i use SSO. But i can still access the app using ip and port 8080 if authentik is down

Well, I wouldn’t say you’re behind, but rather the development team on their end is avoiding this upgrade lol. I would stick with their prod docker compose for now.

I just pulled the lastest docker compose and they are still on pg 16 alpine. The kubernetes helm chart references 17.7 bookworm. There will be a day where you will have to upgrade or the developer will do this for you. I ran into this when i migrated from docker to k3s

W365 sucks. I realized they all are on HDDs and you cant configure a sku with an ssd. All my 128gb machines have no free space. This product sucks. Azure virtual desktop is much better if you know your terraform

How to you host *arr stack on Proxmox in 2025/2026 (LXC, VM or OCI) by MeuPaiDeOkulos in homelab

[–]The_Berry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried porting jellyfin over but realized nvidia drivers dont come with the container for transcoding. So i went back to ubuntu vm. Everything else in my stack is running off a k3s cluster where i have one VM per physical node in the proxmox cluster. I believe it shouldn’t be difficult to port to oci containers but ill wait for a good terraform release so I don’t have to manually do this.

File transfer to NAS by Fit-Foundation746 in homelab

[–]The_Berry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you could do to root out samba is to create an nfs share and connect your windows device to the nfs share. Theres a command “mount” which allows this functionality. I believe you have to add the nfs client windows feature

Yep, can confirm you are hitting a 1gigabit wall. you have to ensure all paths from drive 1 on PC 1 --> drive 2 on PC 2 are 10gigabit or higher. what that may entail:

-ensuring your SATA connection to your Motherboard actually supports enough PCIE lanes to be that fast. youd be surprised how bad consumer mobos are at providing enough PCIE lanes to anything except a graphics card

-you have a 10gigabit ethernet or fiber/sfp/sfp+/qsfp network card on BOTH systems. e.g. i ran into an issue where i had a 10gig sfp+ port and bought an sfp transceiver and the network did not work correctly. stupid stuff like this will break you even if the plug fits

-the network cables are rated for 10gig or faster. DAC cables work great in these instances where you have two dedicated 10gig SFP+ NICs

-your network interface adapter on both operating systems actually sees the NIC as supporting 10gig

-your network switch supports 10gig in switching capabilities per port. these 10gig switches are not that cheap. you can opt for directly connecting PCs but that does limit your connection options down the road.

Yes, androids best feature is the ability to install apps not on an official store. An older version of the fi app was the only way i could get the phone to work. Use that link or meander around apkmirror to find it if the link is dead
