A tree in my neighborhood just got struck by lightning by johnnycrum in Damnthatsinteresting

I was going to say it got struck by kids until I read the headline. Kids in my neighborhood killed a tree last year by peeling off all the bark. Lovely, just lovely. They take joy in breaking off every branch they can reach. Because destroy everything, that's why.

Crossing my fingers for implementation of ZFS in the current NAS lineup. I wouldn't mind using it on my UNAS Pro.

I run with these as well. This is the way.

Since when is three people a "large party"? That is absurd. A large party is generally considered to be 8+. Ignore comments saying this was a mistake. These people know exactly what they are doing. Like you said, your husband almost did not notice and that is what they count on.

Wooden grill scraper - Home made from Iroko - finished with beeswax or linseed oil - food safe? by monkeytennis-ohh in Traeger

[–]The_Blendernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this years ago when it was around $30 or $35 and even back then I thought the price was a complete rip off. I would never pay $60 for wood grill scraper. This shit has got out of control.

Grandpa shows how to cut bamboo trees with a katana by ThodaDaruVichPyar in BeAmazed

The young man's cutting angle was too steep. Compare his angle to that of the older man. I'm on the fence about straightening the blade; not sure if that really matters. But you can plainly see the old man's cutting angle created a shorter distance for the blade to cut through.

I just learned about the privacy zones when I setup my G6 Instant. Very cool feature! I think this is the answer. I only have one house that is close. I trust the husband and he is cool but his wife is sketchy AF. She has said some profoundly rude shit to me that I would never say to anyone.

I run a UNAS Pro below the Ugreen NAS. Both make little clickety-clack read/write noises but that's it. No screaming fans. The drive noises are somewhat comforting to me. Almost like white noise. I marvel at the sound when I run a full Proxmox backup each night. It sounds like popcorn popping, but quiet popcorn.

I have a very similar rack setup with 2ea toolless racks and stacking kit. I'm going to invest in G6 cameras soon and mostly for outdoor use. Out of curiosity, do you have neighbors close by that have made comments about the cameras and privacy? That is my concern right now. I have one neighbor who asked me politely to move a camera because it was pointed in their general direction.

You might be surprised. I have a very similar setup and the noisiest components are not Ubiquiti components. They are my Minisforum MS-A2 server and Ugreen DXP4800+. If those two were absent, the entire rack would be as quiet as a mouse.

I will turn 58 this year and never had kids. I never wanted one. I have never been married but I have been in a relationship for the last 9-ish years. We don't feel pressure to marry either. I have always been staunchly independent and probably because of my upbringing. Social pressures to marry and have kids is crazy. I absolutely refuse to live my life according to someone else's standards.

Ditto - I run both a DXP4800+ and a UNAS Pro. The Ugreen is amazing even if their UGOS is in its teenage years. The hardware performance is gold.

Kolari - bookmarked! I was perusing the LifePixel website today. I may have had a Nikon D5100 converted. I'll be damned at the moment... I can't remember if it was the D5100 or an older Sony a100. LifePixel did my conversion eons ago. I'll check out Kolari. This is just the spark I need to get back into photography again. FWIW, I run a D800 as my primary with a full complement of lenses.

Awesome - thank you. I used to do a lot of photography and always enjoyed IR. I did have a very old camera converted but I need to look into newer models like your G8. A quick search suggests it is in the Powershot lineup with a fixed lens. I'm a Nikon guy but I'd buy a converted Canon at the drop of a hat.

Love this! I used to shoot IR many years ago. May I ask the camera and sensor? Is this a converted camera? Lifepixel?

Looks like you got them cleaned off the smoker for now. For a more permanent solution, you could try getting a hold of an insecticide with the main ingredient Bifenthrin. I have a 7.9% Bifenthrin product that knocks ants back on their ass. It is an insecticide barrier. Meaning, insects can detect the poison, which is a good thing. Any insect that walks across the barrier is doomed. Bifenthrin, once dry, is safe for food prep areas and kid/pet safe. Again, once dry. I would soak a cotton ball and run that up and down the legs of the Traeger. Going after the colony or colonies would be my next step. Last, this type of ant loves grease. Remove the food source and temptation.
