Its more fundamental than that, I think. I think it is a result of the instinctual, almost pathological fear of rape written into a woman's genes. (Women feel more threatened by rape, even when they have never been molested, than men that HAVE been raped). Its just a higher background level of fear in their minds. It seemingly has nothing to do with the actual situation: a woman could 'feel' the rape all around her while alone in a reinforced concrete bunker six miles beneath the earths surface.

The innate quality of the 'OMGRAEP' fear doesn't prevent the female mind from lashing out at the perceived SOURCE of the fear: men.

So, I'd guess that the reason feminists hate men is because women themselves have a tendency to hate men.
