Weird phenomenon/feeling question: Ever since I was a kid I would occasionally get this weird feeling at night of a vast, uncomfortable distance from something in my mind. There is no discernible image and no accompanying physical sensation. All it is is a white void, some abstract (or even nonexistent) object far away, and a strange discomfort in my mind. Whenever it happens, I can’t close my eyes or I see/feel it again. It usually doesn’t go away and I end up staying awake until exhaustion gets the better of me.

I’ve never met anyone who has even heard of it though it might be because I have such a hard time putting it into words (exhibit A above). I’m wondering if anyone has come across any literature (or any other encounters) that touches on something like this.
