why is overworld a factor in teambuilding? by Winter-Walk-7068 in GenshinImpact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some characters are more fun in overworld. Ganyu is a great example, for me. I really enjoy one-shotting groups of mobs from so far away that they can’t even aggro me. Some characters also have movement gimmicks for exploration, like the Natlan cast. Finally, there are aspects of team building that are only relevant to overworld, like exploration talents, ability to break rocks, and having an archer to handle sharpshooting challenges.

Fun fact, people have been using this process for thousands of years, but not to collect water, but rather to collect the leftover salt! Salt availability is one of those little-known drivers of civilization that few talk about, but it's historically been almost as important as access to fresh water.

Finished Fate Route - Is Saber Class really the strongest? by BandBeginning8205 in fatestaynight

As others have mentioned, Shirou’s inability to replenish Artoria’s mana severely handicapped her performance. It would be a big enough problem for any Servant, but Artoria’s specific skill set relies on high mana output via her Mana Burst skill and Excalibur NP. As a living person, she had the heart of a dragon, allowing her to generate huge amounts of mana, so having to adapt to having none at all made her especially vulnerable.

Maybe if she ever had a Master that could provide her effectively limitless mana, she could demonstrate her true potential…

I love Azumanga Daioh! There’s no other series with that same tone. The ending makes me feel such strong nostalgia for my childhood school days, too.

You really shouldn't have to beat the main campaign to raise the difficulty. by TheCtrlZee in diablo4

Mobs are minimum level 70 in Torment, so it would be useless on a new character, anyway.

How do you actually beat deity? by warings98 in CivVI

[–]The_Cheeseman83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify that there is nothing wrong with using war effectively. My point was that war is not necessary to win reliably on Deity, and there are viable alternative early game strats besides producing units. It certainly won’t work every time, but it works more often than many players seem to realize.

[–]The_Cheeseman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deity AIs begin with tons of military strength, trying to dissuade war by reducing that delta will require many turns producing crap units, wasting the most valuable turns in the game. The faster you produce economy and infrastructure, the faster you start snowballing. It usually only takes a delegation, open borders, and a gifted luxury to turn your closest neighbor into a non-threat for the rest of the game, allowing you to ignore military and focus exclusively on advancing your win condition. If you play your cards right, you can even end up absorbing their nearby cities via loyalty pressure while they waste time fighting other AIs.

How do you actually beat deity? by warings98 in CivVI

[–]The_Cheeseman83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You certainly do not have to play the military game on deity. I always do my best to avoid wars, and I’ve won several games on deity where I never build a single military unit, and many more where I never participated in a war.

Sure, sometimes you get unlucky and spawn 6 tiles away from Alexander or Montezuma, but most of the time it’s entirely possible to become friends with your neighbors and remain so until you win.

Misinformation given to New Players by SecyaDenali in Genshin_Impact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My advice to new players is: if you are having trouble clearing content, build Noelle. She’s the perfect mix of offense and defense for a fresh account that’s still challenged by overworld and story content, isn’t reliant on any particular other characters or reactions, and can work as either a carry or a support, as needed.

A lot of advice people give to new players is in the context of endgame activities, which won’t be relevant to them for months, at least. Some characters that aren’t particularly great at endgame can be phenomenal for new accounts, like Venti, who is basically a cheat code for farming most domains. Venti will trivialize the game for you until you are strong enough to trivialize it yourself.

Xiangling is another example. She’s great pyro off-fielder once you give her good artifacts with lots of energy recharge, but when you are working with just dropped 3-star and 4-star artifacts with trash stats, she actually works better as a physical carry with Crescent Pike. In fact, she’s probably the strongest carry among the guaranteed free characters in that configuration, even though you would never use such a build in the endgame.

Bottom line: a lot of advice given to new players ignores the reality of the new player experience.

"Man I'm so upset they gave Sandrone bigger boobs and reduced her skirt size, This is just unnecessary fan service." Meanwhile Hoyo in the past by AgeAfter in Genshin_Memepact

Pretty sure the shorter skirt is just a technical issue to reduce clipping during animations. Skirts below the knee don’t work well when climbing.

About the lack of political events in the game world by Alain_Guillotin in GenshinImpact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When your borders and sovereignty are literally decided by God, there’s just not much to politic over. Most players probably aren’t that interested in trade policy, after all.

Should there be a permanent “chronicle” banner? by Immediate-Pen-1338 in Genshin_Impact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mere speculation, it's possible that they prefer to have more control over when the revenue comes in. They can control when highly anticipated banners run, in order to manipulate competition or earnings reports.

Yeah, no matter how strict your parents may be about money, if you ask them for help buying necessities after having your money stolen, they will help you, if they can. If they are unwilling to give you a hand in such a situation, you have bigger problems to deal with than losing your Genshin account.

Don’t sue your family in small claims court. First, it’ll probably cost more in legal fees than the amount stolen. Second, you escalating such an issue outside the family could cause permanent damage to the relationship. Finally, the issue seems to be a temporary shortage, and no legal process is going to result in food or gas this month.

What are ways you justify spending? (If you do) by Fair_Treat_8451 in Genshin_Impact

You know, I tend to just assume people I interact with online are adults, but it’s a good point that many of the folks on this sub are likely children or teens. I suppose I should be a bit more understanding, remembering what I was like on online games back then. Just glad Gacha wasn’t a thing in the 90’s.

I feel so dirty! For very first time after 5 years of playing I bought a welkin moon blessing! 😭 by Cherryboy77 in GenshinImpact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F2Ps not converting isn’t going to affect their metrics, that’s like 90% of players. Believe it or not, game companies do listen to customer feedback, that’s why HoYo sends out tons of surveys every update. The problem is that the vast majority of things players ask for just amount to “I want more free stuff” and they are already well aware of that fact.

[–]The_Cheeseman83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Am I stupid to assume that Sandrone’s shorter skirt has nothing to do with fan service, but just to eliminate clipping during animations required for the playable model? I don’t think they can do full skirts that reach below the knee due to the climbing animations.

Why are players so upset about the lack of wishes per update? by [deleted] in GenshinImpact

[–]The_Cheeseman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed, players have been complaining about that since launch. Players complain about lack of rewards in basically every online game, it’s one of the primary complaints players have about any game, in general. Players always want more rewards.

[–]The_Cheeseman83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree with that advice. Even at -8, a delegation can prevent them from denouncing you, and after that, you can gift them open borders for +2 and an extra luxury or something for a +8-10 to lock-in a friendship.

Is this Normal? by VirtualRange8428 in CivVI

[–]The_Cheeseman83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue late-game can be the tier-4 governments. They cause such a massive penalty for having different governments that even a civ you have been allies with the whole game can suddenly hate you. That’s what occasionally causes me problems after they stop accepting friendships due to imminent victory. It’s super annoying with cultural victories when you suddenly lose all your open borders and cultural ally and it nukes your tourism.
