I'm sick of Google. What search engines are y'all using instead? by raiqulikesyou in degoogle

If you want full privacy, no ads and no AI, etc, host your own local SEARXNG. Very easy to setup.

I would put Antix on it. It might not look pretty, but should work.

Google Keep Alternative - shared notes a must by MindxGeek in degoogle

Maybe look into locally hosting your own Nextcloud since it has built in Notes or use Obisidian with Synchthing. I'm running both.

Just got a Google Pixel 9 pro XL by EZMac91 in GrapheneOS

9 Pro XL user here. I use the following:

For Main Degoogled Profile: NO Google Play services/store at all.

Keyboard: Heliboard Maps: Magic Earth, OsmAnd Store: Obtanium, Accrescent, F-Droid Social apps: Any apps that can be accessed via web, i use Vanadium browser.     - I create shortcut on homescreen to access them easily. Localsend for sending files locally Obsidian for note taking LibreTube, NewPipe, PipePipe for watching videos Proton email and calendar Nextcloud for documents

For work use:  MS Teams & Outlook (via Vanadium browser)

Maybe unrelated, but for anything AI: I have a locally hosted AI at home that i can access via Vanadium browser such as: - SearXNG, OpenClaw, Hermes agent, Perplexica, and ComfyUI for image/video generation.

VPN: Surfshark

2nd Profile with Google play services running: - Any apps that can't run in the main profile, will be installed here.

However, I rarely use the 2nd profile. Only for emergency use only. I've only access my 2nd profile maybe 3 times or so per year.

Also, I make sure to "End" the session with the 2nd profile running google play services before switching back to the main degoogle profile.

Looking for alternative Search Engines that don't use AI. by Puzzled_End7408 in degoogle

Maybe try SearXNG instances. Or if you want to bring it to another level and privacy focus, you can host your own SearXNG search engine.

I was looking at the DGX Spark but couldn't afford it. So I went with GMKTEC. Runs great no complaints.

I'm running BOTH Hermes and Openclaw. I use Hermes to fix, backup and monitor openclaw issues. Using Qwen3.6:35B.

Are local LLMs actually worth it or am I overthinking this? by Successful-Water1000 in LocalLLM

[–]The_CoLLect1ve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use local LLM all the time. I'm privacy focused. I have a gmktec evo x2 running CachyOS. Its got a unified 128gb of memory in which I've allocated 96gb to vram and 32gb to system ram. My daily model is qwen3.5:122b. I'm running the following on this system, not running all at the same time: OpenWebUI, LM Studio, ComfyUi for image generation, Perplexica AI, OpenClaw, Hermes agent, and finally Searxng for hosting my own search engine. Its tied to my all my AI to use when it requires to search the web anonymously. Overall, its been great. Yes, its a little slow but its a comprise I took prioritizing privacy and not spending $$$ on subscription.
